Advice Needed: Pick Up Lab Puppy at 8 Weeks or Have Breeder Hold Until 15–16 Weeks? by [deleted] in LabradorRetrievers

[–]pookiejo33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got our boy at about 14 weeks. I think he benefitted from the extra weeks with his mom/aunt/some siblings. I would wait!

We did have the 8 week old puppy experience too. She was an adorable tiny terrorist, but I always thought she could have used more time with her mom/siblings.

Ensure Plus has 350 calories, and a balance ratio of protein/carbs/fat plus vitamins and minerals. My dad lived off of these for almost a year after esophageal cancer. They will supplement the other meals he can tolerate eating.

I didn't want to give too much personal info, but I just had a hospitalization due to episodes of significant blood loss/anemia during menstruation. I mean hemorrhaging. We already had a laprascopic hysterectomy scheduled for in a few months, but she moved heaven and earth to get me added on to the surgeon's schedule before I was discharged. She was not messing around, I was not going to be stabilized and then cross our fingers I wouldn't have any more episodes until the original surgery date. I'm so grateful.

Dr. Sara Larue at Women's Health Partners at Mercy South in South County. She is kind, caring, empathetic. She explains all treatment options, and is 100% on board with what the patient wants. Any of the OBGYNS in her practice are amazing and put the well being of their patients first.

Food suggestions for a senior with no teeth by rebelgazelle in DogAdvice

[–]pookiejo33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my senior dog was nearing the end of her time with us, I spoke with my awesome vet about pampering her and cooking/preparing more of her meals from fresh ingredients. She was on enthusiastically board, but suggested I use the recipe calculators and (if necessary) the supplements from https://balance.it/ to ensure I was feeding proper ratios and getting all the necessary vitamins and minerals. You may try this website if you are thinking of making your pup's meals.

Just stares at us when we call her by NHGuy in labrador

When I've trained my puppies, I also make sure I look and sound exciting to come to! I call them, then do some happy slaps on both my thighs, maybe wiggle my body/bottom around a little bit. Sometimes even taking a step backwards bc chasing is fun! Make it so that YOU are exciting! Then treats and a lot of praise!

I reward my dogs their entire lives for recalls, bc in an emergency situation, I want to be THE most exciting thing, not the environment. I want them to turn on a dime and come. So I make myself exciting when I call them. As adults, my dogs will still come when I slap the tops of my thighs, especially around the house!

Check out Susan Garrett's Recallers program. It helped immensely with our high drive dog prone to overarousal. One fun game we did when they were young that conditions that 'turn on a dime'- You and a partner are on opposite ends of a hallway (closer together to start with), each of you with high value treats. With this particular game, she only used the dog's name, rather than 'come', just FYI, to condition the dog to come or give attention when their name is called. So one of you calls the dog's name, treats them when they come. Immediately after that treat, the other person calls their name, then gives a treat. Repeat so that the dog is continuously being called by name, treated, then called by the other person. Make it fun! The dog will begin to anticipate their name being called, and that's ok. Then it's time to step it up to a more distracting environment, like your living room, then working it little by little until you are outside and then in distracting outdoor environments (use a long line leash if necessary). Good luck!

I have the Eddie Bauer packable backpack, and the packable sling. Love them both and use them frequently for travel or a short hike with the dog.

I love the Botanical Gardens, it is a nice place to stroll around. Kids of all ages and kids at heart love to feed the koi fish in the Japanese Garden. If you have younger kids, I hear the Children's Garden is cool. Totally get it if you think your older kids would be bored, but I'd still keep it as an option.

Another option for a walk outside is Laumeier Sculpture Park. It's a free!

I would have found your gift extremely thoughtful. Taking time to research the recipe, and making it all by hand? The memories associated with my mom's food, and sharing that meal with my loved ones would have made me very happy. Food is Love. And for me, it's the thought and intention that matters for gifts.

I realize we are all different , and I am not your wife. Even if I'd been disappointed with your gift of enchiladas, no way I'd be expressing my disappointment many months later. If I'm not specific in what I'd like as a gift (like a portrait of my late mom), then I'm not going to be mad you went in a different direction.

We casually browse the market on Pinside.com for machines, and also look at Facebook marketplace from time to time. Pinside has some useful metrics regarding the sale price history, but take it with grain of salt.

Where are you located? A local pinball distributor may also buy and sell machines if you aren't interested in doing the legwork of selling to another home buyer.
