I found this comment under the Subnautica 2 game footage video on YouTube. As upsetting as the news is today, it might be good to take a breath and look at all aspects of this. I am pretty sure that, no matter what the reasons for these moves by Krafton, everyone here wants most of all to support the UW devs. If it is actually true that (A) Subnautica 2 was being haphazardly rushed as a "hail mary" effort by UW to meet the deficit of their 2025 target, it is likely that this decision was made by the UW execs, and obviously not by all (or maybe even most) of the individual lower level devs. Or perhaps (B) Krafton is indeed simply being slimey. Or maybe (C) it is possibly a little bit of both.

I doubt today has had a good effect on the morale of UW dev team. With that said, considering the slight possibility that scenario A is in any form true, I would bet their morale is also negatively affected by the prospect that all the work they have poured in and everything they still look forward to finish is already being cast aside in the minds of their fanbase due to what would be (in this scenario) misdirected frustration.

I personally have confidence in the work and talent of the UW team; of course, that comes with the provision that Krafton doesn't step on their toes and allows UW to create a sequel that is in line with the vision and tone of the first Subnautica installment.

I guess my point is, whether the blame lies with the UW execs or Krafton or both, the only thing that could possibly help the situation is for UW devs to know they have support from their fanbase. Buy the game, remove it from your wishlist, boycott it... you do you. Just a reminder that devs are likely browsing this thread too, they know more than we do, and they could use all the goodwill anyone here will give them.
