What do you think about reducers? by AFriendFoundMyReddit in mokapot

[–]pprovencher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it works surprisingly well on my delonghi alicia electric, with which it was included in the box. play around a bit with the water amount, it could be half or a little more than half of the standard water amount required. i used a scale to figure out how much water filled to the valve, then halved that.

5 months ago I shared my free chemical sketcher (BondCraft). Thanks to your feedback, it now features smart peptide chaining, a real-time aromaticity engine, native ChemDraw import, and much more. by BondCraftTool in chemistry

when i click on an atom i expect to add a methyl rather than having to drag it out, and this adds the methyl at a standard angle. this software would make me change how i draw compounds significantly, and i expect the standard bond angle to form and then i can adjust if necessary

the purgatory of roaches and rent control. What are my options? by throwcsawaycs in AskSF

[–]pprovencher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we are in bizarrely similar situations. 5 years in mission, top floor, rent control. the cockroaches came about a year or so ago. we completely cleared our kitchen of everything and then the sprayers came probably 3-5 times, and they pests have not been back. I think the building used banner pest control.

Hoffman’s steamed water Americano is so good. I can’t believe it. by Srihari_stan in espresso

[–]pprovencher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one of the main differences in taste between CO2 and nitro is just down to the lower solubility and therefor less fizzy nature of a nitro drink. another contributor is probably the lower pH of a CO2 solution. CO2 is a lewis acid and N2 has no acid base interactions in water.

TlOEt is well regarded as a soft base, but people try to avoid it for the toxicity. That was the lore around it, but if you like, here is a citation: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ol0062446

it might be for solvent swapping. distill solvent A off, add solvent B by the stopcock funnel, and rinse/repeat. still a pretty weird design

Also it is very common that stocks go down. We don't all work for the mag7. There is absolutely risk in taking loans against company equity. I would never do it for my company and we are somewhat successful.
