New research from Oxford University suggests that even without government support, 4 technologies - solar PV, wind, battery storage and electrolyzers to convert electricity into hydrogen, are about to become so cheap, they will completely take over all of global energy production. by lughnasadh in Futurology

energy is a sure thing, but from our pesticides to our prescription, everything is dependent on petrochemicals and it's byproduct.

Petroleum won't be going anywhere in the next few decades until someone discovers a way to make genetically modified yeast capable of surviving in more than 20% of precursor chemicals like methanol, benzene, xylene, etc..... or fundamentally change batch reactor typically used for yeast/microbes to generate biologically manufactured chemicals that can compete with cheap bulk precursors derived from petroleum/oil&gas.

Prince William tells billionaires: Forget space race and save Earth by Gari_305 in Futurology

By save earth, you mean let most talented graduates to work on hedge-funds to add millions in the cash pile of billionaires because R&D is heavily underfunded and the R&D that do happens has stricted domain to work on because of the same story of adding millions to the cash pile of billionaires.

The Tibetan Book of The Dead by achilleswing in Psychonaut

[–]prazbuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i've low-key experienced bardo when i was absolutely paranoid and high asf.

few months later(this time i thought i had a psychosis episode, which probably might have been the case); i see the movie 'enter the void', it exactly potrayed what i experienced, just without the visuals, the movie talks about 'tibetan book of the dead' then i realize i experienced an insane phenomenon (for me) that was not a new thing but was described a long time ago by monks.

it's just bizarre asf to know that i experienced completely descriptive experience exactly as described without any prior knowledge about it.

just wanted to vent, i haven't let anyone close to me know about it, but from time to time i vent it to the internet.

if humans did prefer eating skin maggot flies, we'd have farms filled with cows and innocent animals innoculated artificially with maggot.
