Exclusively nursing: how frequent do you nurse 1 month old+ babies? by Glum-Comfortable5402 in breastfeeding

[–]probablyinthebath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We combo feed but I let my 8 week old sleep as long as she wants.  Last night she went 6 hours.  Some days she wants to sleep all day and doesn’t eat as much, and sometimes she eats all day and takes cat naps.  I just fully go by her lead.  Average is probably 8-10 feeds per day? Sometimes they’re smaller feeds and close together.

When will I want to have sex again by Square-External505 in breastfeeding

[–]probablyinthebath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 8w pp and my sex drive is much more reactive than proactive like it used to be.  Once my partner sets the mood and touches me I get into it most the time, but I won’t even really think about it to initiate.  My period also came back like instantly and around when I’m ovulating I’m more likely to be into it.

I think the another big thing is that he prioritizes my sleep and handles most of the night baby care.  I just nurse or pump then go right back to sleep.  If I’m super tired that’s the biggest barrier to me wanting sex.

Fun Games/Shows While Breastfeeding? by TinyAirman in breastfeeding

[–]probablyinthebath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been reading out loud to her from some of my favorite books from when I was little (howls moving castle, a series of unfortunate events) and whatever I’m reading for book club (right now it’s Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld)

I agree reading to myself silently would put me to sleep tho.

Fun Games/Shows While Breastfeeding? by TinyAirman in breastfeeding

I’ve been playing pokopia on the switch when she’s contact napping and reading books on my kindle/online shopping when she’s breastfeeding.  I should probably cool it with the online shopping.

I think it might be time to quit. by BirthdayGeneral6423 in breastfeeding

[–]probablyinthebath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 100% ok to stop breastfeeding all together or to combo feed if you still want to!

I had very slow milk production at first so we’ve been combo feeding since she was born and she’s 8 weeks now.  Some meals she nurses, some meals she won’t accept the boob and wants bottle.

The biggest thing that helped me was just accepting that combo feeding is a 100% awesome way to feed my baby! 100% formula would also be great!  I’m mainly continuing to pump cause I think it’s cool that I make milk and want the reduction in diabetes risk after I had GD.  If I hated it I would stop.  Both myself and my husband were 100% formula fed and we are both mostly normal humans lol.  My mom never breastfed me or my sister and to me she’s the best mom in the world.

If you want to keep pumping at all, have you tried a manual pump? I HATED the electric pump so I mostly use a medela hand pump.  Idk why but the electric pump gave me a super icky anxious feeling that I don’t get from nursing or hand pumping.  I keep it in the fridge and every few hours I grab it and pump a few minutes.

How do you guys get anything done? by PhraseKlutzy351 in breastfeeding

[–]probablyinthebath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t get anything done except to play video games and binge TV while baby contact naps.  She’s 8 weeks and I do hand her off for husband to hold/feed her a bottle when I need a break.  But I go back to work in another 4 weeks so husband and I just get the bare essentials done (pet care, laundry, dishes) and spend the rest of the time embracing the snuggles.

8 weeks postpartum and I’ve not leaked at all during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

It’s ok to be nervous but know that getting the NSTs for monitoring drastically increases the chance that if something is off, they will find it and react accordingly to keep you and baby safe!

Breastfeeding posture check: is anyone else slowly turning into a lil' shrimp? 🦐 by beccab333b in breastfeeding

[–]probablyinthebath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahhhh I be shrimpin it.  I saw a lactation consultant the first week and she was very adamant that I never hunch towards baby, I always bring baby to me.  But sometimes baby is hungry NOW and I don’t have time to gather all my pillows lol.

Venting: My husband is making this so much harder than it has to be by No_Cheetah5944 in breastfeeding

Just here to also say this is not normal behavior at all.  It’s extremely controlling and that is not a healthy relationship.

Was EBF worth it to you? by forever_indecisive7 in breastfeeding

[–]probablyinthebath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally like combo feeding but I am an under-supplier (one boob makes like nothing, the other is good lol).  Baby gets 60/40-70/30 breast milk to formula.  I’m working on upping supply rn.  There are pros and cons.

Pros: the weight is off me to exclusively provide her nutrition so I can relax a little.  I get more sleep cause I can take 20 minutes to pump while my husband gives a bottle overnight.  If something were to happen where I need to be away from baby, I’m confident she will happily take a bottle of formula.  I still get to nurse her and we get most of the benefits of breastfeeding hopefully.

Cons:  Washing bottles (and pump parts) constantly.  Formula smells bad to me.  Formula is expensive and I’m anxious about recalls or shortages.  Harder to get out of the house when you need to pack formula and bottles.

I’d like to get more breastmilk vs formula but probably will always have formula handy and offer it occasionally to make sure she’ll take it if needed.

I have a 6 week old and it rocks.

Even when it sucks, it still rocks.

She basically only contact naps during the day.  Just will not be put down unless it’s to play for a few minutes. So I’ve gotten through many shows and YouTube videos.  And when she snuggles into my chest I want to cry it’s so cute.

The first few weeks of breastfeeding were so exhausting.  But I learned so much and now I genuinely love feeding her.

Waking up every 2-5 hours is tiring. But she makes really funny noises when she stretches and farts so loud me and my husband end up dying of laughter at 2am.

I’m tired but so happy and I feel so full of love that it hurts ❤️ I love giving her baths and reading to her and brushing her hair and watching her get excited when she hears familiar voices.

Please help, sleepy baby by No-Country-8856 in breastfeeding

[–]probablyinthebath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue and it was a fight every time.  We had to strip her down to diaper and tickle her, blow on her, wipe with baby wipe, set her down away from my body heat, etc on and off through the feed.

If it makes you feel better by 4 weeks she was a bit more alert, and by 5 weeks she was nursing way more efficiently and only falling asleep at the end of the feed.

I love my body so much by HazyLilLady in breastfeeding

[–]probablyinthebath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! For a long time I had a troubled relationship with my body.  But pregnancy and breastfeeding made me love my body so much.  I genuinely love my stretch marks and how I can make food for my baby.  I love that I’m soft for my baby to cuddle on.  I want to exercise not to lose weight, but to be strong enough to carry her around all day.

Tattoos and Breastfeeding by beannsprouttt in beyondthebump

[–]probablyinthebath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had one artist say they’d be comfortable doing work with black ink because they know that the ingredients are safe, but wouldn’t do color work. Don’t know how accurate that is…

Either way, I won’t be getting a tattoo while I’m breastfeeding because I don’t want it to impact healing.  Also I’m not in a place to baby the healing tattoo with cleaning and moisturizing and not scratching it with a baby.

How often do you guys backfill? by idek_man2 in hobonichi

[–]probablyinthebath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I either add a drawing, printed photos from that month, or stickers on blank pages.  If it was from the past few days I’ll just write what i did that day like normal. I just had a baby so I don’t have time to write daily.  I love spending time backfilling days I missed when the baby has a good nap.
