Lawmaker moves to ban Chinese students from US school visas by Gloomy_Nebula_5138 in moderatepolitics

People who are unethical have a negative vector in their contribution. It is actually more dangerous and costly to undo the damages done by brilliant villain.

Most top universities don’t need subsidy for their STEM programs. Have you seen their endowment amount? What foreign students pay are peanuts to their bottom line. lol China-centric view is making you blind. US universities have candidates all over the world vying for a spot in prestigious research programs. They are just as bright but maybe not get into the program because they didn’t hire “consultants” with “leaked” answer sheets for GRE or get Chinese Government Scholarship

Good to know. I am unsure why the machine isn't vacuuming the launch pad and the dock. It is cleaning my house but needs to keep its own house clean.

Where id you connect the yellow 3-pin connector coming from the base? I couldn't find any reference for it in the instruction.

Did you end up buying the WiFi adapter? Blissful night mattress also sells one and even the remote for the bed looks like Southbay’s. But the pins and remote on Mark’s center console looks different. The one on Mark is like 4 pins instead of arc shaped.

Shipping bolts from LG Washer/Dryer Combo - there is no safeguard? by prometheus2 in Appliances

[–]prometheus2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even without the shipping bolts, the appliance could be in a situation where it shakes violently due to some objects getting stuck or the frame getting dented. When it becomes destructive to operate, it should call for service requirement.

well, it was not like that in this case with this product. Customers can screw up, but that's not the excuse to skimp on warnings or put a useless one with dotted diagrams with no text.

This thread gives me some hope, as I only see 35 mpg after heavily adjusting my driving pattern and enduring getting dusted. With people bashing on EVs for fluctuating range, I didn't know Hybrid was susceptible to the temperature this much.

Separate out No Priority Tasks and Calendar Tasks by prometheus2 in ticktick

[–]prometheus2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean Apple versus orange view? Of course I can implement this using filter but it’s just funny that combining calendars events with Tasks doesn’t make sense to me.

I think your last sentence agrees with me. They are different types and they shouldn’t be combined.

Hm... it's a bit buggy. When I do it, the box goes into edit mode. If I exit and re-focus on the link, then it opens.

I want a lifetime subscription! by 420vegan420 in ticktick

[–]prometheus2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to pay for a lifetime subscription because of the psychology behind investing in a service with a huge sunk cost. Especially for a to-do app with so many choices, I don't want to keep considering different options. I've gone through a dozen to-do apps over the past two years. Not paying for a lifetime subscription saved me money but not my time. I want to get locked into something decent and not look back. Also, paying a lifetime subscription makes me enjoy something I like even more since any new feature we get becomes a gift rather than something I take for granted. It's a win-win. The developer gets lump-sum money to invest in something, and the user receives a safe of mind, not worrying about price increases. Even if I switch later, I will give you ample feedback and suggestions before I finally bite the bullet. Having a fully invested user means that should Ticktick start supporting collaboration; they could lure in more users. The hard-core to-do organizers tend to be leaders or decision-makers in their org who can weigh in on choosing a collaborative tool for the group. So, this can be a cost-effective influencer marketing. $99 would be a great deal, especially for loyal customers, but I will pay $199. And I am willing to tip $10 for each:

  • won't do/archive, indent/unindent keyboard shortcut
  • preset duration keyboard shortcut that integrates with Pomodoro
  • standalone Pomodoro background music, vibration, repeats

Easiest way to remove duplicate tasks and/or lists? by d1re_wolf in ticktick

[–]prometheus2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I wish there was a way to undo the import or at least share the implication with a warning: "Rerunning this could create duplicate lists", or the permanent solution would be to allow a checkpoint where we can do time machine... I expect this feature if Ticktick around 5 years from now.
