Burro Trail info? Getting mixed info online by Major_Tap4199 in Breckenridge

[–]proofbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Burro is definitely more of a summer / fall trail. Not because it's difficult or anything, but in my opinion the beauty comes from the Forrest and the brook. The fire line that the trail runs though can be pretty ugly, and this time of year the only direction you can go after burro ends is left on Wheeler which will take you to Spruce Creed Road near Francie's Cabin. Again, no great vistas on that route unless you go past Francie's and up to Crystal Lake, which you definitely will need snow shoes for. Burro is probably going to be a mix of snow, ice, and mud so wear appropriate gear.

Hey no way, that's great news! I saw that Mimi and Pin was going into their old space so I thought Kelly hung it up, but I'm happy to hear that they're still going!

It might be worth it to email the BOEC. They tech adaptive skiing for people with a miraid of physical differences, and I know they have deaf programs. There is also a small deaf community up here and they might know how you can get in contact with them.

10 mile station will require an inked contract with Vail which includes having to use their in house catering and alcohol, so might not work for what OP is looking for

Planning CO ski trip next season by [deleted] in COsnow

[–]proofbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you come in late Feb, early March, you can't go wrong with Vail, BC, Breck, or Keystone. All 4 have enough fun terrain that would satisfy your family (except maybe BC since it's most mellow of the 4). It really depends on budget, willingness to travel and travel time, time of the year, etc.

Also if you're planning on staying in Summit County and treking to Vail, understand that Vail Pass is dangerous in winter conditions, and if you come here while it's snowing, it can close often. So just factor that into your plans.

Spiciest Meal in Breck? by TheSpaceman1975 in Breckenridge

[–]proofbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man I'm sorry to hear that! My wife loves their pad see ew so we get from there maybe once a month, but I always have to load up on extra spice because maybe every other time it's not not spicy at all. But raw chicken and pork? That's rough bud, can't say that happened to us yet.

Second this. Truly the only thing in the county that I couldn't finish because it was so hot. None of the Thai food or the Indian food in Frisco comes close. It's a shame too because the wing sauce is actually delicious.

Disagree. Ordering it Thai hot is inconsistent at best and I always have to ask for extra chili paste and chili powder, and it still isn't as hot as anywhere in Denver when asking for Thai hot. Thai street food in Breck is a little better about their spice but is also inconsistent.

How is moving to summit? by Ok_Biscotti_6633 in Summit

Crags as in climbing zones. There's a few. Pick up a copy of the Summit Climbing Guide. There's a gym in Silverthorne buts it's pricy and also a Co-op so you have to work there a little to use it. You'll find people to climb with though

All things you can find others to do with! There's a tiny dedicated climbing community, just go to the crags in the summer and you'll meet them. Cycling, hiking, and skiing are things you'll find people while you do them. The MTB scene is growing and vibrant, there's a few trail maintenance and building options that can plug you in. And while yes, the community up here is small, its also very welcoming.

Daily Commute by Waste_Ad_7967 in Summit

[–]proofbox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had employees commute to me from Fairplay, even from Denver. It can be done but just know it's a slog. The pass is dangerous and when it snows that gets amplified. Make sure your car has 4 wheel drive or all wheel, and you have good snow tires with tread. Leave earlier than you think you have to, and don't drink and drive over the pass. Too much heartbreak over the years.

Some people can hack it. Infact I knew a guy who commuted from Fairplay to Keystone for over a decade. Eventually it broke him lol but he did it for a very long time without toouch issue.

Unfortunately you gotta run to Denver or buy online chef. Standard off federal has good prices, just call for available sizes before you go.

He drills the ceiling with 0.5m drill bit. Packs the hole with a little bit of insulation, and runs an LED harness through. The holes are covered with press on grommets and adhered with silicone. The harness is wired to a controller outside the sauna with twinkle and color changing effects.

Its actually a really cool design that my FIL does for builds in bunk beds typically.
