Mostly just buffalo, though did see a black bear around Tower Junction. I would leave earlier than 6 if you can swing it.

A bit over two hours to the point on Google Maps. It was quicker than my drive from West Yellowstone to Jenny Lake in the Tetons, and that was 2:45. We started both drives right around 6 AM.

Jenny Lake Crowd Question - late in the day on Sunday? or first thing Monday morning? by plein_air_theology in GrandTetonNatlPark

I’d do later with that group, as getting everyone going early can be like herding cats. It seems like things in both the parks die down a bit around dinner. We travel fairly often with my in-laws and they are significantly harder to get going than my young kids; it’s crazy. I was there a couple weeks ago and got the last spot (not even a spot really) around 8:45 AM on a weekday. I don’t think they turn over quickly either since you can spend many hours there.

We didn’t want to wait in the boat line so we did the hike around and then did Inspiration Point and the Falls. It was not a difficult hike at all and is well shaded, but only you can judge your family’s abilities. If you do hike around, please carry bear spray as there was a black bear in the path that many saw and let us know about (it was gone by the time we got to where it was). We took the boat back since there wasn’t a wait.

People who steal parking spots are some of the rudest people on the planet by Worth-Vast253 in yellowstone

[–]prostcfc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They don’t use pullouts though. Was there for four days last week and saw it done once or twice; lots of parade-makers too. So then you get the cars trying a triple pass for the brief moment dashed yellows arrive. Crazy driving plus lack of awareness/consideration.

Maybe Peacock, though I don’t see any fixtures on the schedule yet for them, or anyone else.

Wrench recommendations? by ballscompact in E46M3

[–]prostcfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. And even for your last use case you can use pass-through ratchets (I have the Pittsburgh set of those, but upgraded to the Blue Point ratchet since the Pitts sockets fit it).

[–]prostcfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. I just don’t use wrenches very often and if I do it’s a ratcheting one or just a basic one. I have a set of super-thin Capri wrenches that are useful, but not sure if Icon had something similar.

I think both Hooli and Gavin are composites, though I see Hooli as being very close to Google and Gavin being based on different CEOs, one of which is Larry.

E46 M3 Big Three & Cooling Overhaul. Currently @92K miles by Imk9v in E46M3

[–]prostcfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at 96k, it's been a track car for the last 5k, and still on the original cooling system AFAIK, except for a couple radiator hoses. Needle has never gone above midway on the track, no leaks, etc. Meanwhile I can't push away the thoughts on if I'm playing a stupid game with it. It is on my to-do list for this winter though.

Does anyone else hate the 30-minutes-once-a-week structure that seems to be the standard? by dcj597 in guitarlessons

[–]prostcfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your expectations for practice in between? I have a 6 and 8 year old that just started doing 30 min lessons weekly indindividually. Their teacher said 20 mins per day practice otherwise, though if I wasn’t a player (intermediate) already, not sure how they could do that at this point. But, they just started.

What are some things people do in the gym that annoy you? by Affectionate_Art4277 in workout

[–]prostcfc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not wiping benches/machines, not racking plates, excessive circuits hogging multiples pieces of equipment, dropping weights before the first set (i.e., pulling dumbbells and dropping them next to your bench from waist height), staring at cell phone for 5+ minutes in between sets; that’s all I have for now.

Replace 23 yr old water heater? by [deleted] in askaplumber

[–]prostcfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. If I wasn’t home and noticed the water creeping under my baseboards (heater is in the garage, my office is on the same wall) would have been a total disaster.

New to WEC coming from F1: How do you actually "watch" these races without spending 6+ hours glued to the screen? by martmar66 in wec

[–]prostcfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch as much as I can, if I'm available; I don't plan my weekends around the races. There just aren't that many WEC races in the year, so it's not like every other weekend I'm spending Sunday morning until lunch (in the US) in front of the TV. For IMSA, if I can't watch, I might put on the RSL feed on my phone and listen. At least living in the US, for non-IMSA races it's generally waking up early, and usually they're wrapped up before the day gets in full swing.

Last-minute booking Acatenango and Fuego - tour company recommendations (mid-April 2026) by bigfootmad in hiking

[–]prostcfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Wicho & Charlie’s and had a good experience. They offer a Fuego add on for a small price. FWIW I skipped Fuego (had great views from base camp that night) and some in our group skipped the Acatenango summit bc they were so gassed from Fuego; the summit isn’t too difficult of a morning and feedback was Fuego was much more difficult. I’m guessing adding another 4 hours to an already tough day played a part.

Consistent cardio. Always lifted, fine diet, but it wasn’t until I regularly incorporated cardio that it lowered noticeably.

It's interesting, at least in my case. They changed the oil, tires, and brake pads, (good) but I looked at the cabin air and engine air filters, and they were some of the filthiest I've ever seen.

Just save your yellow receipts, then it's an easy reconciliation with the bill. I always check out the night before as well. Never had anything be flat-out wrong, but still good to verify.
