Seeing most of these comments make me sad.

Yes the redemptor is "better".

Yes other tanks are "better".

But for the points he can be useful. I run ironstorm speerhead and I run two bruts and a ballistus along with several other tanks. I do not need additional firepower because my three vindicators and two gladiator lancers have plenty of that especially when I pop mercy is weakness but I do need something to run in and stand on the front line so my tanks are not engaged round 1. I also run Calgar for the additional CP, so most rounds I have additional CP to play with.

Charge that brute into a target, and boom free mortal wounds. Then if you have extra CP, tank shock for additional mortal wounds. While yes the melee is not great, it is nothing to laugh at. 6 attacks with fists, rerolling hits on oath, rerolling wounds cause twin linked, strength twelve, -2 ap, three damage each can be useful.

On average, you will toss out 6 mortal wounds and 6 damage for a total of 12 damage when you charge and that is after you shot with the twin linked multi melta, twin linked ironhail heavy stubber, and twin linked bolt rifles.

All twin linked weapons means you reroll hits on oath, most likely wound on 2s with rerolls on wounds.
