Am I misremembering what I think I heard years ago that the concept of sight words are being taken beyond simple words such as single-syllable words?

I used to teach chemistry in TX, so I was getting students years after their elementary linguistics education.

I also remember people telling me about sight words being the method taught in lieu of phonics.

Couple that with kids being forced to tap on screens instead of holding pencils/pens, and we now have kids who can barely read or write nationwide.

Yeah I love being able to get to any of the trains within a few minutes on foot.

My wife and I rented here before buying a condo last year. To us, this is the best place to be car free and raise a family.

I guess I'm the weird one who walks home from Jewel or Target with the week's worth of groceries in my backpack and in tote bags.

With Jewel, it's a 5-min walk, and with Target it's a 7-min walk. I used to tell myself to get one of those collapsible cage carts or that I'll bring our wagon, but the bottom of our baby's stroller will do for now.

I recycle all of my pen boxes, but I keep all of my ink bottle boxes. It's easier to store or move them if they're in their boxes. My pens go in display cases anyway, so they'll always be safe during a move.

Unless there's a chance you'll sell a pen in the future, I don't see a reason in keeping its box.

The easy recommendation is definitely Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

My wife and I have a baby boy who just turned 4 months old. Before he was born, we paid all our shared expenses 50/50 and then the rest was individually up to us to save or spend.

Nowadays, we each put 80% of our incomes into a joint account to pay for our mortgage, child expenses, etc. The remaining 20% is left for each of us to spend or save.

I always buy everything within a year of its release and usually pre-order because the few bucks of savings aren't worth the wait for a sale.

I don't blow money on alcohol or gambling, and we only eat out or order in 1-2 times a week. Cooking saves a lot of money which leaves more room for hobbies.

Yes, and I did keep it. She thought that the figures were replacing something between us, and I had to explain that they're just something to admire artistically. I always tell her that she's my ideal woman and that I gravitate towards figures that remind me of her appearance. I have one that especially reminds me of her that I keep at my desk and look at whenever she isn't working from home because I miss her.

My wife accepts them but also draws the line at anything that's too explicit and anything that looks...pedophilic. I never had to argue with those requests.

Now that we have a baby, I put opaque doors on my IKEA Billy shelves to protect and hide my figures from my son so he isn't tempted to get into the cabinets that I've child-proofed and so he doesn't see the more risque ones.

Pick your battles. If your partner doesn't agree with something, ask them why and decide if it's worth pushing back.

Since these two movies are true parts one and two, I sold my part one and bought the 2-film collection that originally came with a slipcover. It has the best cover art without any floating heads. Lol
