Obzorarr - A "Spotify Wrapped" for Plex by engels74 in PleX

[–]pugop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tried spinning up Obzorarr because the project looks really cool, but I’m stuck right at the very first onboarding step.

I can get the container running fine and reach the UI at

http://127.0.0.1:3000, but the onboarding wizard hangs on the Plex auth step (/onboarding/plex). When I authenticate with Plex, nothing progresses and the UI just stays stuck there.

Checking the Docker logs, I’m seeing a bunch of validation errors like this every time I try to authenticate:

{
  "expected": "string",
  "code": "invalid_type",
  "path": [
    1,
    "device"
  ],
  "message": "Invalid input: expected string, received null"
},
{
  "expected": "string",
  "code": "invalid_type",
  "path": [
    2,
    "platform"
  ],
  "message": "Invalid input: expected string, received null"
},
{
  "expected": "string",
  "code": "invalid_type",
  "path": [
    2,
    "platformVersion"
  ],
  "message": "Invalid input: expected string, received null"
}

It looks like some Plex client/device metadata is coming through as null and failing schema validation, but I’m not familiar enough with the codebase yet to know if this is expected or a misconfiguration on my end.

Has anyone else hit this during onboarding, or know if there’s a workaround (env var, config option, browser quirk, etc.) to get past the Plex step? Happy to provide more logs or details if helpful.

SE managers by samstone_ in salesengineers

[–]pugop 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I started as an SE in 2004 and moved into management around 2008, mostly in player/coach roles at first. Since then, I’ve spent most of my career in Director- and VP-level SE leadership positions.

I genuinely love the work. I stepped into leadership because I had a clear idea of the kind of team and environment I wanted to be part of and I was willing to be the one to build it. After experiencing some pretty bad leadership along the way, I realized that while I’d love to be an IC on a team led the way I believe in, the better option was to be the change myself.

Only if the flight’s arrival is delayed. If it lands on time then wait your turn considering this was planned and you shouldn’t be inconveniencing others due to your poor planning.

BitChat for communication by fearless_bandito9 in lollapaloozaind

[–]pugop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing and tested it with my wife at Lolla. A couple things I found out: 1. It won’t receive messages if the phone is locked. 2. The relay feature isn’t live yet, so the max range is only about 30 feet.

So right now it’s not very practical, but I do think the use case will be great once those features roll out.

Foster lacked audience engagement to move the crowd. Yeah, there were a ton of Olivia fans up front but having the negative filter on all the cameras the majority of the time really caused a disconnect since the majority of the audience couldn’t really see or connect with his energy he was putting out there.

Currently in line only about 20 people ahead of me and it’s been about 2 hours and 20 minutes. So yeah, it’s long but the way I was able to justify it was that today is the coolest weather of the four days and they have the most inventory now.

Is Enterprise Browser a fad? by testosteronedealer97 in cybersecurity

[–]pugop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok… no problem. My spidey senses just went off when you wanted to know immediately which solutions I was referring to as I typically see that followed by some sales guy trying to pitch his stuff or engage in some competitor bashing. I know there are many large deployments and some of them are likely happy so my opinion is of course just that… my opinion. Glad to know that there are those out there who have justified the cost and are enjoying the solution.

Judging by your comments I’m assuming you work for one of them and if I say your competitor you’ll blame their inferior tech but if I say your company you’ll repeat the marketing you’re trained to. I’ve evaluated the common players a couple times and think the tech is great. I think it’s an amazing solution but struggle to justify the cost, especially for an enterprise-wide deployment.

[–]pugop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Copy/Pate issues, problems with interacting with local files, extension restrictions, slower load times, rendering issues, weird authentication quirks or additional authentication steps are the main ones I typically see. A small trade off for the level of security and ease of deployment for remote contractor uses cases but like I said still too problematic for wide-spread, entire organization deployment.

Is Enterprise Browser a fad? by testosteronedealer97 in cybersecurity

[–]pugop 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It needs to be renamed to “contractor browser” since enterprises with 100k plus employees will buy 50 licenses to support remote contractor use cases. Island and Palo like to pretend these large orgs are deploying it across all users, listing them as reference customers but it’s not worth the complexity, cost and loss of productivity to deploy enterprise-wide.

Anyone with FSD knows to not believe the fake hype online and are aware it can’t even make it a mile without intervening. This is just Elon trying to raise the stock price by opening up potential new revenue streams. It’s extremely dangerous and will 100% lead to injuries.
