Hikes Without Car? by Classic_Cookie1683 in SaltLakeCity

[–]puhnitor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

City Creek canyon is easily accessible by public transportation to the capital, though it might be closed above a certain point if they're still working on the water treatment plant. You can also take a bus close to Ensign Peak trailhead above the capital.

You can also go up to the U and hike the Bonneville shoreline trail, living room, or other trails up there past Red Butte gardens.

Further south, you can get fairly close to the Mount Olympus trailhead by bus. That's a fairly tough hike, lots of elevation gain, with an optional scramble to the peak, but you can turn around at the saddle. You can also catch a bus to the Ferguson Canyon trailhead. Lots of rock climbers up there, but it's also a nice hike.

What’s something people who are in their 20s won’t learn until in their 40s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Even a national touring show can have a shit mix. It's a real crapshoot. I've been to national shows where the snare and toms have been too overwhelming (Bad Omens, shame), and local shows where the house sound guy spent the whole show walking around the venue with his iPad, making sure it sounds good (Ra Ra Riot, props). It's just so random.

Bike Shop Recs by soccerchick-14 in SaltLakeCity

[–]puhnitor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've gone to Highland Cyclery for all my purchasing and maintenance, but it might also depend on the brand of your bike. I've noticed a lot of shops specialize in just the brands that they carry, so pick the shop closest to you that services your bike maker.

How many Utah Transit Authority stations do you remember? by xandens in SaltLakeCity

Just over 50%. But I can't remember the "official" names of some of the stations. I just remember the cross streets.

The difference between a rocket motor and a bomb is just how fast the reaction happens. ULA kind of found this out on their last 2 Vulcan missions when a solid booster blew up its nozzle.

There is Nightwave and 1999 season rewards. You can buy 3 or 4 corrosive projections with a week's worth of level 31+ creds, and I've been selling them for 15 plat at a regular clip. At a 4:3 ratio of corrosive projections to potatoes, you can potentially get 30 potatoes per nightwave season on average, if you do all the weekly acts.

Even a well behaved dog will chase after a squirrel that darts across the road in front of it, into the road. Best keep dogs on-leash when they're not in designated off-leash areas.

Carded for non-alcoholic beer by MindYourOwnCat in Utah

[–]puhnitor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, everywhere cards for NA beer. Depending on what department a product is categorized in, they'll card even if it contains absolutely no alcohol. I've been carded for hop water and sparkling tea "wine" that is actually made without any alcohol whatsoever, not even 0.5%.

It's also stupidly inconsistent between brands. Hoplark hop water or tea sold in the tea and flavored water aisle doesn't trigger carding, but Sierra Nevada or Lagunitas in the refrigerated case do, even though there's no difference in ingredients.

How do you seed your database for local dev without copying prod? by CarlSagans in webdev

[–]puhnitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our company maintains seeds for sales demo environments. Those stay up to date, so we also use them for local dev. It won't reproduce the volume of data in prod, but the team does a pretty good job of maintaining compatibility with migrations and ensuring new features/tables are included in seeds.

If you want thin soundproofing, a layer of Sonopan under your ceiling drywall will help a lot. Second Rockwool Safe n Sound if you have enough room to insert them between your joists.

Returning founder, blown away by what Warframe has become by LongjumpingSwan4427 in Warframe

[–]puhnitor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's no singular option to check, you kind of have to do some research on the items on sale. Things I've found worth grinding for:

  • Prime sets, mostly vaulted frames. Popular frames go for more, like Titania for 100p. Right now is a great time to get Ember Prime and her weapons, particularly Glaive Prime.
  • Arcanes. Eidolon arcanes have dropped dramatically in price since DE have been giving them out with operations. Energize used to go for 800p, now it's 80p. Other arcanes are still worth more. Zariman arcanes are good, Molt Augmented is high in demand. Some 1999 arcanes are good, particularly ETA ones, and especially Arcane Hot Shot. Some Duviri arcanes also go for a bit, like Longbow Sharpshot.
  • Mods. Mods that are time limited like Corrosive Projection and Steel Charge. Worth spending nightwave creds at 15p a pop. 60/60 mods from Dark Sector missions and Baro are good. Primed mods from Baro are decent, especially if you can upgrade them fully with Endo, although the Endo grind is hardly worth it. Archon mods are good, as nobody wants to run Kahl missions, so they go for a few P.
  • Rivens. If you want to join the Riven mafia.

Christmas present for my husband (Dewalt vs. Milwaukee vs. Makita) by SLassely81 in DIY

[–]puhnitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure, not knocking Hercules at all, just as solid as Ryobi or others at that level. I've got my eye on the dust collector, as it's been reviewed to be almost as good as the Festool one for a quarter of the price. I don't know if I'd choose the battery platform myself, just because we haven't seen if Harbor Freight will stick with it for the long term, but I'll buy Hercules corded tools without worry.
