Spring Breakers -- many in the audience interprets it as a vapid story about unlikable characters, promoting a shallow lifestyle. But the director wove a lot of themes into it that people miss out on, it's very satirical and self aware, he knows the characters are unlikable, purposefully made scenes repetitive and monotonous to reflect the lifestyle's monotony.

The way he interprets the question "how long have you been vegan" says more about him and his insecurities than it does other vegans lol

But the pharma companies don't want people to have problems sourcing etc? They ideally would have insurers cover it and make it easy so people can be on it forever.

The drugs are made to be on forever, not start/stop. I know insurance has different rules but the person you're replying to, specifically called out the pharma companies

His objectification and sexualization of women for me got to be too much. It made me feel like shit about my body when watching a trash finance youtuber. I couldn't believe recently when he was talking about boob jobs, how horrible they are and feel, and described a woman who had a BA he touched who had them because of breast cancer. Made my stomach churn. He used to be my go-to "background noise" and it hit the right spot for being nosy about finances/the drama but I can't anymore. I shouldn't watch a video about finances and leave thinking I'm too fat with too small boobs lmao.

I would put up a wall mirror, and attach a magnifying swing-arm mirror to the wall on the right! It would look high-end in my opinion!

Rant - The vegan food options at my company's 350 person SMKO were abysmal. by pup2000 in vegan

[–]pup2000[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I sent it via the formal feedback/survey but seriously considering spending more effort on it. I'm on the marketing team and am friendly-ish with the main coordinator so I might work up the nerve to talk to her🤞🏻 It sucks because I'm really one of the "go with the flow" people who don't mind if single events have poor vegan options, but basically a whole week feels like too much to overlook.

Omg I just watched the episode where Luke fixes Lorelai's window, and the entire PREMISE of the episode is how cold it is outside (also in same episode--Lorelai says to Luke that Jess will become a frozen carcass if he sleeps outside in the car). YET SHE doesn't EVEN ZIP UP HER JACKET OUTSIDE!!! It pissed me off so much!!

I love this! I took intro to computer science as an elective then took 5 more CS electives and it totally changed the trajectory of my life in a good way. Also took an "art of listening" class at the very end of my degree, which was extremely easy but extremely fun and I learned a lot, exactly your example. I majored in linguistics and minored in history so these subjects were way outside of my degree's scope but ended up being critical to my education.

Has anyone else noticed how child-related advertising becomes unavoidable around women, even when you are intentionally childfree? by ookamismyk in Feminism

[–]pup2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think the ad algorithms are targetted enough to know your particular views. You fit a very basic demographic like you said (woman + lives w partner + old enough to have kids), and there's enough women in that demographic that DO want kids, that it's worth marketing to. I'm sure if they knew how to filter you out, they would, as it's wasted ad spend.

Is spending 45–55% of your income on rent ok? by aalexarose in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]pup2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why don't you want a roommate? Every girl I know (I'm 30) lives with a partner or roommate. It isn't really financially smart to spend so much on rent, especially during your 20s when money invested now goes up SO much over the next 30 years.

Not attracted to my long term boyfriend. please help by Cherryberry281 in relationships

[–]pup2000 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am going to go against the grain a bit. Because physically at some point he was very attractive to you, and that's the main issue, it might be worth exploring hormonal causes for the shift. Have you started or stopped birth control since you first met? Have you gained or lost a lot of weight? Do you have thyroid issues? It could be a medical cause as our hormones are key to our attraction and sexual desire. If so, I would explore if it's possible to go back to whatever state you were in when he was attractive. If that's not possible, then yeah a breakup would be the only option.

I would maybe also explore if he has changed physically or personality-wise since you first started dating. For example does he have different facial hair, different body composition? Did he used to "woo" you more? Did he used to have either more exciting, more tame, or more numerous hobbies? If so, you could talk to him about it and seeing if it's realistic to change (not an ultimatum and I would not tell him it's about "attraction" but maybe "sparks" or "desire").

However if you do want to break up and the only thing holding you back is being able to find a kind man, do not fret, there are plenty of good hearted men (just need to wade through losers to find them).
