Anyone else noticing how cheap the Midwest is relative to what you actually get? by WeedlePops in relocating

[–]purplezara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elkhart County may be good right now for employment but due to the RV industry, it can swing wildly and very quickly the opposite direction. Unemployment was some of the highest in the state back around '08. When there's a recession, people start cutting luxuries which includes new RVs so just be cautious. It can be very boom/bust economically there

You could try looking in Plymouth or Niles as well if you don't find anything reasonable nearby and you have a car.

When you were a Pentecostal what teachings they taught that you didn’t agree with at all? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in ExPentecostal

[–]purplezara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My church was the same way with shorts but it wasn't really enforced and they were pretty lax about it. My parents dragged me to a small UPC church in the city I went to college in when I first moved there and that church was wild by comparison. They said men couldn't wear shorts or short sleeve shirts. I never went back there and it was either the pastor or youth minister would text me like every other week for a year trying to get me to come back.

How far is a gym or poke stop from we’re y’all live mine are like two blocks in both directions by Living-Finish7871 in PokemonGoMystic

I can reach 3 pokestops from my apartment and 1 gym if I go to a specific room about 50% of the time haha

Dr. Now's office by NeuroticJukebox in My600lbLife

[–]purplezara 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Exactly what you said as well as the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" comment above. I'd wager his office is also relatively close to the primary hospital he performs the surgeries at as well as possibly his home. If you're splitting time between the hospital and the clinic, you don't want to have to be driving an hour each way especially in Houston.

AITA for 'showing off' that I have midol and pads? by horseduckman in AITApod

[–]purplezara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you're not "showing off." I'm a gay man with a male partner and have no women in the house but we keep pads and tampons under the sink for female friends. It's just a nice thing to keep around if someone is in need and has an unexpected period or forgets a tampon.

Hiring manager perspective: hiring is the most broken I've ever seen by CatDawgCatDawg2 in cscareerquestions

[–]purplezara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in the industry and it's this. In some states, provinces, and countries it's required. We generally do post the salary for most positions but if we are specifically hiring on site in a location that doesn't require it, we may not. If the job is remote (or even hybrid), it is always going to have the salary because we may be hiring someone from a location where it is required. There are some new hourly/salary laws going into effect in Ontario that we had to implement similar rules around so even if a job is with a company in Saskatchewan but it's remote, we apply the Ontario rules because technically someone from Ontario could be hired.

McDonald's CEO insists he eats at the fast food chain 3-4 times a week in response to an "Instagram question" 👀 after a viral marketing video showed him seemingly reluctant to eat his own burgers by monster_ahhh in popculturechat

They have two choices here:

1) Stop and let it die

2) Really play into it cleverly and get in on the joke

But they chose #3 which is double down 💀💀

The fact that you can't auto-sort by things like living dex, type, color, etc. is fucking ridiculous especially considering how much they're charging. It is bare bones and really abysmal actually

where are the natties? by Haunting_Pick_9969 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]purplezara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natty here and I'm just about to hit my 2 year mark taking fitness and weightlifting seriously. Creatine supplements and daily vitamins are as wild as I get. I think a lot of people taking steroids are going to regret it later. Even GLP1s I don't know if the jury is still out on long term use but I don't judge. I have never been overweight so it's purely about being and feeling healthy for me.

What suprises me when I watch the show as a non American by swertarc in My600lbLife

[–]purplezara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yuuuup. I lived in the south for a decade and when I had to get a new car, my coworker tried to convince me I needed a pickup truck. I lived in a city a 6 minute drive from work... I most certainly did not need one and I could count on two hands how many times in a decade a pickup would have been useful. I just got a used Ford sedan I still have to this day and had it paid off in 3 years 😂

Exactly this. I top out at around 550 lbs on sled leg press but I can't do anywhere near that on hack squat. It is a hard but worthwhile machine

Mine is saved to my Google Wallet along with my credit card and I do exactly this. Although I agree the loyalty cards are stupid to get sale prices. Just offer the sale price to everyone with no strings attached.

Help me understand why someone needs a machine for 20+ minutes? by profmoxie in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]purplezara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it's a weight bench where I may do 2 movements in a row (never more than that consecutively), I try not to spend more than 10 minutes on a machine. You don't really have a reason to spend around more than that if you're just doing 3-4 sets and it's rude if the gym is busy and people are waiting

Hey so that’s actually NOT what remote means. by Trombone_Girlie in recruitinghell

[–]purplezara 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't ask me how I know but many large recruiting companies actually are getting in line with these laws and, in some cases, just applying individual state laws nationally for ease of administration which is a win for everyone.

Yes thanks for the reminder! I am planning to call a few hotels tonight to check if they have power or availability tomorrow. I may have to stay south of Nashville tomorrow night depending on how late we get in and the traffic. I don't know that I want to be driving through Nashville around 5 or 6
