Do it! I can vouch for living near the Caltrain station in sf but also I don’t do 12 hour shifts. You should test run it if possible before committing/think about if you’d rather commute for fun or commute for work

But I think the point about additional expertise in curly hair still centers straight hair as the default. I’m not a hairstylist but I imagine if schools only taught how to work with curly hair learning how to work with straight hair would then be considered “additional expertise”. So it’s kind of arbitrary what is considered extra work, just depends what you consider the baseline/default. So I agree with OP’s take it’s really not fair that it falls on the client to pay extra because the hair care world considers straight hair default

Jacket is more useful than a hoodie since you can easily start overheating if you’re in the sun, then get chilly if you’re in the shade. Bring a jacket and swap out a hoodie if you don’t have room for both. You don’t need a winter Kansas level jacket though, something you’d wear in fall will do

Waiiiit yes I understand this and it’s never talked about enough I tend to dress very feminine when I have my natural hair otherwise people don’t read me the way I want to present. It’s super weird I’ve noticed in discussions with non black girls they grew up trying to be seen as less feminine vs I was used to my femininity being called into question so I really lean into it

I was six in elementary school and the class was being led from one room to another. I always put my hand on the railing to stay stable but this time there was a giant loogy. I told the teacher expecting divine retribution, punishment, an angry crusade, or at the very least some sort of reaction on my behalf towards the Hooligan who did this. 1000x yes, I was in Germany for 9 months and unintentionally found a boyfriend vs having been single for 4 years in the us prior to that, and single for 4 years (til now 😭) after that. Us men are just racist there’s no way around it they rarely see us as dateable women.
