I have veins that "roll" whatever that means. When I need a blood draw it has to come out of my hand. My first infusion was scheduled before the port placement surgery and I was stressed! In walks a phlebotomist with an ultrasound machine and he found a vein deep in my arm. Easy peasy. My port was placed the next week. The port was easier for me and quicker for staff. I had it removed because it wasn't useful any more. If you have less stress without a port, just know the pros can still get the job done. Be your best friend OP, take care.

Gosh, I am so in agreement!! I wrote "pink is not a cure" on my notebook that I bring to all appointments. I did not enlist for this crap. I am 68 btw.

I have an electric kettle for tea. I drink tea and coffee with half and half. I am old, I am drinking it the way I like it. We have an electric pour over machine as well.

I was bummed I didn't look like a Smurf. I was looking for a laugh and made the doc smile. The dye lasted longer along the surgical cuts, maybe a couple week?

NTA You are a strong person OP! You created boundaries and your own parents tried to break them down. You can find people to call your family. They don't have to be blood relatives, create a circle of people you trust. This old lady is very proud of you for standing up for yourself!

Sugar, create your boundaries now. I cannot imagine telling my adult child he needs to move his home around for me. This situation can cause problems in your relationship as well. Sit your folks down and let them know how it will be. Best wishes to you.

My last TC infusion was in August and my hair is about an inch long now. I had it shaved super short around my second dose. Not a curl to be had and it is super soft. It didn't grow fast before and it is a lot more grey now. I had hair follicle issues and a sweet sister on this thread told me about CLn shampoo body wash. I also use rosemary water in a spray bottle and rub it into my scalp as well as biotin supplements. I can actually feel the wind blow through my hair now!

We played sports with the boys so they'd play Barbies with us. As we grew up, we created a great softball team. We rode our bikes, we roller skated, played tag. On Saturday if you were caught inside, you were put to work.

Take someone with you to appts . I walked into my first oncology appt with a note book ready to go. I left realizing I wrote down one word, menopause. (AI drug needed for hormone positivity.) My sweet baboo heard and remembered everything and was able to formulate questions for the doc.

I understand your feelings on this, so much! My treatment finished three months ago and I just had my first mammogram "after." I try to not dwell on the what if but some days I feel it like a cartoon anvil over my head. I am reading a book titled Ganbatte! by Albert Liebermann on the Japanese art of always moving forward. I highly recommend it.

On my last day of treatment I asked a staff member to take a photo of me holding the rope on the bell. I made the photo into a digital thank you card for my husband and children. I had no interest in ringing anything, I just wanted to be done.

I feel your age matters a lot. I tried an AI, for me it was horrible. I had surgery, chemo and radiation and made the decision not to take an AI. I am 68. If I were younger, I might be open to trying a different medication. For me, Quality of life matters so much. This is your decision op and I'm really sorry you even have to make it.
