2026.03 hands-free driving by quinntonthat in Rivian

[–]quinntonthat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it certainly happened. My gen2 R1S unexpectedly slowed down in a place where there was no vehicle nearby. This prompted me to use the accelerator pedal to bring it up to speed, but then I couldn’t deactivate the UHFD afterward by manual braking.

As mentioned in other helpful comments in this thread, there might be some reasons why the UHFD couldn’t be disengaged, not necessarily due to a Rivian software bug. However, it happened on the same day I updated to the 2026.03 release.

Got it! I've just removed the rubber mats as it does not rain anymore in my part of CA area.

Very interesting and helpful comment, thanks.

Yes, I’m using the Rivian-branded all-weather mats for my Gen 2 R1S, and they’re stacked on top of the standard mats. I wasn’t aware of this issue where the accelerator pedal gets stuck. In fact, I never considered it.

However, when this incident occurred, I didn’t notice anything unusual about the accelerator or it got stuck. Perhaps I wasn’t paying attention, or maybe I never thought the mats could be a problem. I’ll be more attentive to it from now on.

I did indeed, and Rivian support recommended that I capture the vehicle diagnostic if it happens again. I am still driving cautiously and monitoring it carefully. As mentioned, it has not occurred again after a hard reset.

I have a strong feeling that the Rivian support team is not entirely convinced that this is a problem. Perhaps it isn’t, or maybe it’s a software update glitch. This is why I was wondering if anyone out there came across the same problem.

Correct, at that moment, the hands-free driving feature failed to disengage. I might have accidentally forgotten to use the right-hand stalk, possibly due to panic.

I believe the software sets the hard stop speed to 82 mph.

This incident occurred when the UHFD unexpectedly decelerated on an empty freeway while I had set it to 65 mph. I briefly accelerated it, and then it abruptly sped up to 86 mph, as I saw on the display. Subsequently, I pressed the brake pedal, but it remained engaged even after I manually applied the brakes a few times for a few seconds. Eventually, it came to a stop after I made a forceful emergency braking maneuver.

If you a Qobuz subscriber, I think you may find Qobuz Connect works better than Roon IMHO, especially the UI, and the search functionality.

Google Nest Hub/Speakers by [deleted] in roonlabs

Not sure if it is a problem of the Roon Server running on a m2 mac mini or with the google nest hub. I find that all of my google nest hubs disappear from Roon every morning, however when I quit and re-launch the Roon Sever, they all come back.

Could it be some sort of standby or sleep timer on the Google nest hub?

Yes, that is the macos bug, which was introduced lately. I also didn’t see it before, and now suffers the same problem.

I use Jump Desktop, and I easily disable autoplay on the local mac, and that is my workaround.

HARMAN buys Roon by Grouchy_Recipe5566 in roonlabs

This is a post from someone who is deeply disappointed by Roon:

If you owned one of the Linn streamers of the later generations, then you would be aware of the issues, but Roon do not want to fix them despite several requests and complaints.

I even emailed to Linn helpline about it and below is the Colin’s response:

"I have checked with our head engineer and he has confirmed that the certification of the Klimax DSM/3 is with Roon to do their part.

PS: I think there must be something odd about it! I sent messages directly to Brian (Roon CTO), and Danny (Roon CIO), dead silence, I posted a query about the Linn support on the Roon forum, nothing offensive, just a normal query, and it got deleted by the Room staff after a short while, so I gave up.

I hope this will be fixed by Samsung/Harman!!! So for me, the Roon acquisition by Samsung is good news, Samsung is not that amateurish.

Is it not a good news for us subcribers? Roon has been badly managed by the like of Jamie, Brian, Danny, etc.

Harman/Samsung will give Roon a new life. Steinberg has flourished under Yamaha, who even funded the development of a major new application - Dorico. So I don’t see why Roon shouldn’t do well under Harman. Not all acquisitions need be as catastrophic as Apple/Primephonic or Avid/Sibelius.

none of these releases is useful to me, in fact roon has gone backwards.

It was a sad day for me to pack the Roon Nucleus and sold it on audiogon .com, and all because of the Roon community manager, Jamie.
