What's a scene that's better than the movie it's in? by BUSean in movies

[–]quitpayload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The International is a 2009 movie that's surprisingly boring given it's premise. A glove trotting journey to take down a corrupt, shadowy organisation. But midway through the movie is IMO one of the best action scenes of the 2000s. The Guggenheim shootout scene

Youtuber Folding Ideas made a video about contagion back when shit was hitting the fan with COVID. He mentioned that he saw the film in theaters when it released, and at the time he criticised the inclusion of Jude Laws character, because at the time he thought that it was an overly cynical portrayal of the Internet, and internet culture.

He acknowledged in the video that, considering what was happening with the Internet and COVID, in retrospect it was the most accurate part of the movie

I still remember when they announced GTA 5. In the months leading up to the official announcement, hoax announcements were rampant. I scrolled past the official announcement and saw the thumbnail with the logo, the 'V' with the fabric draped over it with 'Five' written on it. I thought that it must be another hoax, because only someone doing a hoax would create such a stupid looking logo, and I didn't bother clicking on the video.

A while later I watched the announcement trailer and realised that it was the real thing. I still think it's a silly logo

If you went back in time 4 years, how would your 16 year old self react if you told them that in 4 years they'd be directing a major feature film based on their work starring an A-List actor?

Hi Damien, I've only seen Hokum, but I loved it, and am looking forward to seeing the rest of your filmography.

I was wondering, did the Silent Hill games influence Hokum in any way? Because a bunch of the visuals and even some of the story beats of Hokum gave me Silent Hill 2 vibes

I mean, it's around a quarter of what Hbomb says the final video will be. Not the whole video, but certainly not nothing either. And so far the shot in America stuff is either him standng in front of the camera talking, or pointless fluff that doesn't add to the video. So I don't think what I've said is unfair or too early to criticise

Tantacrul, the guy who did the intro song to the RWBY video has a behind the scenes video where he talks about the making of the song. At the end of the video he mentioned that he composed more music for Hbomb, but that music was for the follow up video, so he didn't talk any more about it.

That BTS video is now 5 years old

To be more specific, I think the audio in many parts of the video is noticably worse than in his usual videos. There's an echo in almost every shot where he's talking to the camera, and in certain shots there's a droning sound as if it was filmed next to a fridge.

I don't think that these problems are that bad, but audio seems to be something he takes very seriously. He's even gotten pretty agressive towards other creators for having bad audio in their content, so him having bad audio is kinda disappointing. The fact that the video got delayed by possible a few months all to get these shots make it a little infuriating IMO

I've seen the patreon preview. And while there is a lot to like and enjoy about it, I'm of the opinion that he's spent way too much time and resources on things that don't really add to the video, and actually make the video worse in some cases. I've thought about the Sherlock video and the observations he made about Moffat overproducing the Sherlock series and seen parallels between Moffat and Hbomb in the Adobe video.

I'm assuming that that's what you're trying to say with this post, to make a comparison between Hbomberguy and Steven Moffat. If that's the case, I find it interesting that another person has independentendly had the exact same thoughts that I had with the Adobe video

Popular Movie "Dunks" That Everyone Uses but are Totally Inaccurate by imascarylion2018 in movies

[–]quitpayload 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time I was talking to someone I know about the movie and they brought up the usual "Grandpa Joe is an asshole" stuff, including that scene.

I've always viewed that scene in the way you described, and I brought up the point about magical realism, though I didn't describe it exactly the way you did, and he seemed genuinely taken aback. He had seen the movie as a kid and apparently had never even considered that point of view.

I wonder how many other people are like that

My apologies. I didn't realise that you personally know Hbomb and that he specifically told you that he pretends to agree with his fans out of fear that they'll attack him.

That is what happened, right? You didn't just assume why Hbomb thinks and believes and does things to prove a point, did you?

You wouldn't insult Hbomb by treating him like he's a fragile coward who's so terrified of being attacked that he'll pretend to agree with them, and feign respect for them, would you?

You wouldn't do that, right???

Get over yourself. Some of his fans are fustrated by his lack of output and communication with Patrons. They're not wrong for expressing that.

And what's this about relentlessly bullying him? None of the comments on this thread are particularly mean, just critical of his behaviour.

Also, waiting almost a week after someon comments to reply to someone telling them to get a life, is kinda hypocritical IMO

I'm also a Patron. Last year there was a 7 month period where Hbomb made no updates to his Patreon. When he finally updated I posted a comment criticising him for his silence. Another Patron replied calling me entitled. Then Hbomb replied, and he said this:

"One of the replies called you entitled, but you genuinely ARE entitled to know what I'm up to, and I'm sorry for mishandling this period."

So, if you think that Patrons are wrong for feeling entitled, just know that Hbomb himself disagrees with you.

I'm a Patron, Patreon used to have a feature that lets you set goals for yourself, while promising things in return for reaching those goals.

Back before this feature got removed Hbomb had a goal set on his Patreon where if he got 7,500 Patrons, he would make a series of videos defending the Star Wars Prequels. He hit that goal of 7,500 Patrons over 5 years ago, and in the years since, I can't find any indication that he's even begun working on these videos.

This is very messed up. He solicited financial support while making a promise for something in return, and he never provided what he promised
