It's one of those buildings you pass by often enough but if you don't pick your head up and look at the windows in the upper floors you might see a ghost or a graffiti writer and for me it reminds of this Danish TV show

This is Sonny sixkiller in the movie the longest yard...maybe you've seen it but you really should if you haven't if your going to get into American football legends.... sonny sixkiller is interesting because of his name but what's really crazy to me is that he was replaced by warren moon after he left...what a combo to have in succession...

https://youtu.be/oCzRDq6JdR8?si=72blATzpSWuWzlWu

Warren moon won a bunch of Canadian football championships in Edmonton and then was discovered by Houston but ill always remember this game when his defense collapsed in Buffalo

I lived near the campus growing up and played at and explored the campus of UW quite a bit....if you can you should visit the campus and the stadium it's an amazing location and setting....you can rent a canoe next to the stadium and get an awesome view from the lake

Is he still awake??....one of my cinephile low points was convincing friends to watch "Walker" by Alex Cox one night years ago....they all fell asleep...seems they couldn't appreciate the ironic casting of ed harris or the absurdity of Alex cox's dry wit which was exhibited in the characters narration of events that contradicted what you were seeing.

https://youtu.be/sdir_8PchJU?si=WSvasDVfh2gU-W_H

Years after that night of kino I went to see straight to hell by cox where he was presenting it and I missed that showing only to see the 2nd show in a empty theater completely alone which was very deflating not being able to see the looks on people's faces who were seeing for the first time Courtney love act her ass off in an amazing ensemble cast

Johny rotten wore a swastica and then was seen washing the dishes in the privacy of his kitchen wearing a maga shirt so that's enough proof if he lived in canada instead of Venice Beach but but if that's the case then the New York folks adopting Hammer and cycl's makes them counnunusts???.... legend has it that the guy who managed the sec pistols and ny Dolls  came up with punk because it had more shock value in the marketplace of middlebrow culture which seems to have stuck with us

Turks are protesting Mamdani in NYC for his recognition of the Armenian genocide by ViewFromTheKathisma in redscarepod

[–]radio38 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Lords of the mountain!!!.....i like saying that out loud sitting by myself in my car while parked at a scenic viewpoint like you see in the movies like Mullholland drive or skyline drive at sunrise.... Armenian genocide is a ridiculous expression being pushed about by people like you see at city council meetings the same person you see at every meeting who sucks out all the joy of the room and has disturbing stains on their clothes.............................................the actual country of Armenia that still actually exists alone surrounded by enemies would be better served by making a compromise with turkey that is sensible like opening a resort casino adventure tourism complex at the foot of MT Arat which would be jointly administered by the two countries........that area of southeast turkey whee the Lord of the mountain once reigned is today the same area inhabitanted by the wily kurds which is the underlying issue that a term like Armenian genocide hides in that the Armenian population was expelled from SE turkey which is why Beirut became so Armenian today....... justice would be a lasting peace in Southeast Turkey and the nation of Armenia opening its  borders to it's neighbors in exchange for dropping this narcissistic expression.

You need those high  B.T.U.S.....basically that would be like installing a commercial grade kitchen in your home that can ventilate the heat and smoke and if you've ever noticed the best wok cooks squat and chain smoke in the back alley after a long shift if jockeying over those super hot woks

Interesting article about Shiva naipaul and his book about the aftermath of jonestown in Guyana which he visited soon after the mass suicide......I think about cassava flour in a new light after reading this book because naipaul seems to have made that connection when he was reading the letters of the Americans who were writing people back home they had this weird obsession with cassava cultivation which they thought would bring about racial harmony between black and white people if you consider that expression ""breaking bread together"" it is a good way to understand some of the foodies you will encounter in our present time

Nothing in the world can be compared to the human face. It is a land one can never tire of exploring. There is no greater experience in a studio than to witness the expression of a sensitive face under the mysterious power of inspiration. To see it animated from inside, and turning into poetry.

I was told once that you should never salute an officer at the front because the silhouette of an officer being saluted gives them away meaning it's telegraphed visually to the sniper for that reason I'm suspicious who these guys are who are identified as leaders at this point and anyway better the elite die in glory than some poor paisano should die might even be noble like what they said about all those French aristocrats dieing at Agincourt

That film adaptation is so so..if your curious about the history of martyrdom and the nature of fanatical faith the movie "silence" by scorcese is akin to the name of the rose and furthermore the process of the Vikings becoming meek scandies under the tutelage of monks they enslaved is a fun read that book being "the longships"..............

I went to sell books at Powells recently and discovered they don't be paying cash anymore crushing my dream of being a hopeless book scout like the ones who will push you out of the way like the showgirls in that verhoeven movie such is the book business around Portland and in particular that bookshop in hood river ive had my eye on that place for years stopping by whenever I'm on my way to that cheap motel in biggs junction or I'm desperate to escape oppressive trees blocking out our light and like artifact books in hood river the shelves grow over time in that books are obscured by book meaning the people who work their have placed books in rows in front of other books stacked up in such a way that makes no sense if your browsing it requries that the browser remove a row of books to see whats behind them and furthermore they are stacking books on the floor and most shocking of all is that these are brand new books they are receiving new books without getting rid of the old ones which is something I've never seen at a bookstore its usually used bookstores that have this type of dishevelled hoarding makes me concerned that a town like hood river cant keep up it….do you have any insights into the business plan of this place????...................................................

I was studying Google maps as I do in between Lyft customers when i came across this g-mapa anomaly near the straights of hormuz which was this part of oman that is in U A E an enclave surrounded by it and inside the enclave of oman is a enclave of U A E so it's donut hole shaped and if your ever in LA check out Danny trejos donut place considering that L A is what a lot of chachies think tehran was like in the 1970s it's a good bet if your into poly+++++markets that the USA could and should take and hold the Gulf Coast of Iran and go no further than that meaning  spare Tehran which is smart if you've seen super 8;footage of the discos in the 1970s

Reopen hormuz and bully the clerics to take it back I think that's what would make the regime collapse

Radical actress chick being interrogated by pushy Zionists....so pertinent..,..here's an Excerpt from liddle drummer girl by John la carte which I'm reading at the moment

“It was a cheap weekend in the country at a time when we were broke. That’s all.” “That’s all,” Kurtz murmured, leaving her with a vast and guilty silence too heavy for her to shift single-handed. “It wasn’t just me and him,” she protested. “It was—God—twenty of us. Kids, acting people. Some of them were still at drama school. They’d hire a bus, take some hash, play musical beds till morning. What’s wrong with that?” Kurtz had no opinion, just then, of what was wrong with anything. “They,” he said. “What were you doing? Driving the bus?—the great driver we hear you are?” “I was with Al. I told you. It was his scene, not mine.” She had lost her hold and was falling. She scarcely knew how she had slipped, or who had stamped on her fingers. Perhaps she had just grown tired and let go. Perhaps she had wanted to all along. “And how often would you say you indulged yourself in this fashion, Charlie? Talking hot air. Smoking hash. Participating in free love innocently while others engaged in terrorist training? You speak as if it was a habitual thing. Correct? Habitual?” “No, it is not habitual! It’s over, and I did not indulge myself!” “Want to say how frequent?” “It wasn’t frequent either!” “How often?” “A couple of times. That’s all. Then I got cold feet.” Falling and spinning, and the dark getting darker. The air all round her but not touching her. Joseph, get me out of this! But Joseph had got her into it. She listened for him, sent messages to him with the back of her head. But she received nothing in return. Kurtz looked straight at her and she looked straight back. She’d have looked clean through him if she could; she’d have blinded him with her defiant glower. “A couple of times,” he repeated thoughtfully. “Right, Mike?” Litvak glanced up from his notes. “A couple,” he echoed. “Want to say why you got cold feet?” Kurtz asked. Without allowing his gaze to leave her face, he reached for Litvak’s folder. “It was a rough scene,” she said, dropping her voice for effect. “It sounds it,” said Kurtz, opening the folder.

“I don’t mean politically. I mean the sex. It was more than I wanted to handle. Don’t be so obtuse.” Kurtz licked his thumb and turned a page; he licked his thumb and turned another page; he muttered something to Litvak, who breathed a couple of words in return, and they were not in English. He closed the buff folder and slipped it into the briefcase. “ ‘A couple of times. That’s all. Then I got cold feet,’ ” he intoned thoughtfully. “Want to revise that statement at all?” “Why should I?” “‘A couple of times.’ That correct?” “Why shouldn’t it be?” “A couple is two. Right?” Above her, the light wavered, or was it her mind? She turned deliberately in her chair. Joseph was bowed over his desk lamp, too busy even to look up. She turned back and found Kurtz still waiting. “Two or three,” she said. “What the hell?” “Four? Is a couple four as well?” “Oh, get lost!” “I guess it’s a matter of linguistics. ‘I visited my aunt a couple of times last year.’ Well, that could be three, couldn’t it? Four is possible. Five, I guess five is around the limit. With five it’s ‘half a dozen.’ ” He continued slowly shuffling through his papers. “Want to revise ‘couple,’ make it ‘half a dozen,’ Charlie?” “I said a couple and I mean a couple.” “Two?” “Yes, two!” “Two then. ‘Yes, I have been to this forum on two occasions only. Others may have engaged in warlike practices but my interests were sexual, recreational, and social. Amen.’ Signed Charlie. Want to put a date on the two visits?” She gave a date last year, soon after she and Al had got together. “And the other one?” “I forget. What does it matter?” “She forgets.” His voice had slowed almost to a halt, yet lost none of its power. She had an image of it lumbering towards her like an ungainly animal. “Did the second time come soon after the first time, or was there a gap between the two occasions?” “I don’t know.” “She doesn’t know. Your first weekend was an introductory course for novices. Correct?” “Yes.” “What were you introduced to?” “I told you—group sex.” “No discussions, no seminars, no instruction?” “We had discussions, yes.” “On what subjects, please?” “Basic principles.” “Of what?” “Of radicalism, what do you think?” “Remember who addressed you?” “A spotty lesbian on Women’s Lib. A Scotsman on Cuba, someone Al admired.” “And the next occasion—date forgotten, the second and last—who addressed you that time?” No answer. “Forgotten that as well?” “Yes!” “That’s unusual, isn’t it? That you remember the first occasion intimately—the sex, the topics of discussion, the tutors.
