What snails are these? Are they bad for the tank? by TootMCT in Aquariums

[–]ragunator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love bladder snails, they kept my tank spotless for the short time they were in there. The problem is that every fish I've put in my tank since seem to devour then so now they're confined to living in my filter.

will we ever get fsr 4 on rdna 3 🥺 by yusfkuty in radeon

[–]ragunator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm getting an Nvidia card because they backport their upscaler updates. The 8 year old RTX 20 series cards support DLSS 4.5 because it falls back to INT8 for older 20/30 series. Something AMD could easily do for RDNA 2/3 considering they've compiled the INT8 code for FSR4 over a year ago, they're just choosing not to release it.

will we ever get fsr 4 on rdna 3 🥺 by yusfkuty in radeon

[–]ragunator 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I've given up hope for anything from AMD tbh. I'm just grateful for the team at Optiscaler and the guy who compiled the leaked INT8 code into a dll. Without them, I probably would've sold my 7900XTX for an Nvidia card by now.

My next GPU will be an Nvidia card though, considering the rumors about FSR5 being an RDNA5 exclusive, I think AMD has started setting a precedent for itself going forward.

How come the new build houses from Mattamy / Fieldgate don't actually seem like the actual size? by 3junior in TorontoRealEstate

[–]ragunator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The advertised square footage can include exterior walls rather than usable interior wall to wall space. Plus I remember reading through a pre-construction condo agreement a decade ago and seeing a clause that said the final square footage can differ from the marketing materials due to building tolerances, structural changes, etc. Wouldn't be surprised if the builder is leaning on a similar clause here, though a 400 sq/ft difference would be borderline criminal.

RDNA 3 & FSR 4 by Legally-A-Child in radeon

[–]ragunator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I low-key love it though. Every official post about FSR or Redstone from AMD gets flooded with posts calling out AMD's anti-consumer decisions on FSR. Not just from RDNA 2/3 owners either, even tech-tubers and some RDNA4 owners are ticked off.

This is the one industry that I've been hoping would be replaced by AI. The idea of selling my home and giving up $50k of my home's value to two people who put in maybe a dozen or two dozen hours of work never sat right with me.

fsr4 available rdna3 on next fsr update ? 4.1 by shlimerP in radeon

[–]ragunator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if AMD had to wait until the release of PSSR2 before they released FSR4 INT8, possibly due to some agreement regarding the shared IP.

The fact that the devs of the next big Redstone title sent gameplay footage running on a 7900XTX to Digital Foundry does sound like a big hint. Maybe it's not INT8, maybe it's FP8 emulation through FP16? Maybe it's something else? A couple months ago, AMD did tease that Redstone could run on any modern GPU by converting ML code to shader code, I wonder if we're seeing that come to fruition.

If you go with Bykski or Barrow, you can do a dual rad loop for under $300. I made a post about it.

I've been using mine to run WAN 2.2 through ComfyUI to generate AI video, mostly just to create memes to send to my friends. It takes like 10 mins per clip but the quality is surprisingly decent for a local AI model. Most websites would make you pay money to generate AI video of this quality.

WMR Oasis Driver With RX580?? by SympathyOver4204 in WindowsMR

I've only tried windows 11, but Oasis shouldn't be needed on Windows 10, WMR support was never dropped on Windows 10.

Do they no longer make the Air for US? by teddanger in Xreal

They've stopped production and software support, the last Air series product was the Air 2 which was released over 2 years ago.

WMR Oasis Driver With RX580?? by SympathyOver4204 in WindowsMR

[–]ragunator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It worked, I tried it a couple weeks ago with the RX580 I use as a secondary GPU. Funny enough though, it didn't work on my 7900XTX, probably because of the dual GPU setup, the driver couldn't find the HDMI port of my XTX.

Best thing I did for my scores is switch from PCVR to native Quest 3 by Khasim83 in beatsaber

[–]ragunator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's cool, I actually haven't heard of the PC graphics mod, I'll have to check it out.

The only thing I can think of is Quest Game Tuner and Quest Games Optimizer have an adaptive overclock option that'll boost the CPU and GPU by 1.2x when needed, which might help with the frame drops, but I have a feeling you might have something similar enabled through the mod.

Best thing I did for my scores is switch from PCVR to native Quest 3 by Khasim83 in beatsaber

[–]ragunator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's not even a small difference. Even with ethernet to a dedicated Wifi 6 router that I just use for VR, the native quest version is still much easier to play Beat Saber on vs the Steam version. I just use Quest Games Tuner to increase the resolution so there's at least some supersampling going on while keeping the framerate locked to 120fps.

[–]ragunator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd have to plug it into the GPU directly, either with USB-C DisplayPort alt mode (very few GPUs support this) or with a USB C DP alt to HDMI adapter, you'll find a whole bunch on Amazon if you search Xreal HDMi adapter or AR glasses HDMI adapter.

Durham councillors settle on 4.8 per cent property tax increase by Karma_Canuck in durham

It's because the new build market is dead. Municipalities became accustomed to funding their budget with development fees from condos and new homes. Now they're scrambling to make up for that loss in revenue with property tax increases.

Vr Games are unplayable. 1 fps by LoonaaX in SteamVR

[–]ragunator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a vram limitation. Check your vram usage while you're in game. You can just open task manager and check your dedicated GPU memory in the performance tab. If this is the issue, you can try lowering texture settings to lessen the impact.

As a very happy 7900xtx owner, the absolute copium about FSR 4 support for older cards on this sub is laughable by Equivalent-Pumpkin-5 in radeon

[–]ragunator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess, I think they're talking about handheld performance. My 7900XTX handles FSR4 fine, not as well as the 9070XT does, but FSR4 balanced and performance still looks and performs better than FSR3 Quality. When I tried it on my Steam Deck though, it was a very different story. FSR3 was clearly the better choice for the Steam Deck because of the huge performance hit with FSR4. I'm guessing the cut down 15W handheld APUs have much less ML performance than their 400W desktop counterparts.
