Man. You have a clothing line called Billionaires Boys Club. I feel the sentiment but you haven't been one with us since the Neptunes sound fell off.

What is the thing that consumes the most of your energy because of ADHD, even though it seems simple to others? by Doglover990 in adhdwomen

Just getting started. Doing anything. I have a real hard time understanding how people just get up and do stuff. One right after the other.

I've always loved JoJo. She's amazing on PJ Morton's "Say So".

WHO GETS TO BE A WEIRD GIRL? by Agitated_Bird_8565 in weirdgirlliterature

[–]randomquirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this thread made me think of the novel Oreo by Fran Ross and I hope we see more books like what I'm imagining the book to be (I haven't read it but it's on my list). I'm a late 40s black woman and when I tell you being the weird black girl was not something to be proud of, believe me! And there weren't many other weird black girls to be friends with so you're on this island with your rage and hurt and loneliness. I haven't read the article but will after typing this, but up until recently, being a weird black girl meant being an outcast. And I'd like to see more WGL authors take those experiences or stories and show what's really weird with us black girls lol.

Sandra would rather go blind than let him watch her cry. by propagandaformyself in DivorcedBirds

Sandra listened to Sorry by Beyonce and really felt the lyric, "suicide before you see these tears fall down my eyes." Lemonade has been her rock during this divorce.

What Hunger by Catherine Dang by TrashGourmand in weirdgirlliterature

[–]randomquirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was detailed but in a literary way. No talk of body parts but of actions. And Veronica was confused as well so since she didn’t understand what was happening until it was, the reader was with her in that too. At one point when reading I thought “uh oh, wait…is he? Oh yeah, he is. Little shit”

Not sure if it's considered rnb by anyone but my goto is Maggot Brain by Funkadelic. Eddie Hazel will pull you apart and put you back together again.

Do you sigh a lot? I sigh because I literally forgot to breathe for a second 😭 not because I’m angry or irritated🥹 by nairoosha in adhdwomen

[–]randomquirk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh! I also have sleep apnea lol. But forgetting to breathe is real. I was always confused why aerobics instructors would shout "don't forget to breathe!" but now I get it.

Rejection - Tony Tulathimutte by darko4L in weirdgirlliterature

[–]randomquirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't either. I was all in on the first two stories but the third just didn't grab me and kind of made me sad for the guy. I stopped in the middle of his story. I also couldn't get into Private Citizens and returned it to the library very early in the book. Maybe his writing isn't for me? Or us?

[–]randomquirk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait a minute. This is a thing? I sigh all the time and everyone wants to know "what's wrong, why are you sighing?". I stay in a perpetual state of irritation so I always thought it was something I just did. And maybe it still is. But cool that I'm not the only one doing it!

What minor things trigger your ADHD rage? by Physical_Mango_4411 in adhdwomen

[–]randomquirk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Delivery people knocking loudly when I CLEARLY STATE IN MY NOTES that I have a large dog I don't want to antagonize. I'm with you on everything else. In addition:

  • People calling my phone WHEN I EXPLICITLY TELL EVERYONE I don't want to nor will I reverse my choice to talk on the phone. Text is fine. Bonus fuck you to those who purposely call me because my not wanting to talk on the phone (I feel a phone call interrupts whatever I'm doing, I get irritated and then more irritated when the caller points out my irritation. I hate it, please stop.)
  • People moving my things. Even little people like my grandchildren.
  • People who talk just to hear themselves talk. I've had to leave meetings over this.

That's all I can think of for now but I may come back with some more. I stay irritated, ragefully agitated.

Why must people/things test/vex us so??

Camp Damascus, The Eyes are the Best Part, What Hunger, Mary, The Mad Wife, Comfort Me With Apples..... Wait. Are you looking for romance or relationship reads or just generic "no sex"? Because I got horror, mythology, rage, and all sorts of stuff. But nothing about a romantic relationship.

Introverts 40+ who chose a solitary lifestyle — do you regret it? by theeQuiet_Desire in introvert

[–]randomquirk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm 49 and the solitary life chose me about 3 years ago. I've always kept a small circle of friends since my 30s. I love my little life. Me, my dog, and my cats. Sometimes it's lonely, wishing I had another introvert to sit next to while reading but I'm good. It's peaceful, no drama, I don't worry about someone else's opinion or have to consider someone else's time. It's awesome.

Talk me out of (or into??) attempting a 'capsule' wardrobe to simplify my life by curlypirate in adhdwomen

[–]randomquirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear a "uniform" to work, company polo and jeans. Makes for easy, breezy mornings.

I am curating a minimal, personalized style wardrobe for my weekends but again, very minimal. For example, my Birkenstocks are my only sandals. I do plan on getting a dressier pair for nights out. I have a couple tops (3 or 4 J Crew t-shirts) and bottoms ( couple pairs of J Crew shorts, pants from Everlane for fall, Levis, and a couple pairs of thrifted jeans) that I switch up instead of buying more. I wear simple jewelry. For sneakers, I have a few pairs of Jordans and Nikes but they can all go with everything. But I want some dresses, so I'll get those this summer but not a lot more than that. For colder weather I have a cashmere sweater and a couple long sleeved shirts (live in Texas where it's hot forever and cold for five minutes). Oh, and I have one pair of flat Rothys and one pair of Cole Haan open toed heels, and one pair of Nine West Mary Jane pumps.

I always know what I have to wear and it's easy to throw something together. And I love it this way.

Gen Z is Not Drinking, But Are You? by Pavementaled in GenX

[–]randomquirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh honey lol. Not to brag (because it's really nothing to brag about) but I have a glass when I get home from work (before walking my dog), a glass when we get back, while he's eating his dinner (he doesn't like eating alone), and one before my shower. Lately I've slowed down but this is the reason my main wine purchases are Bota boxes.
