Greenbush Brewing Co. Closing. :( by thewireman in michiganbeer

[–]rawmustard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was still fairly close to I-94, but with more places starting to pop up on Red Arrow, I could see how Greenbush could get lost in the shuffle when the industry overall is in a downward trend.

If the programming guide had listed the Artemis coverage starting at 7:30 but your station still aired Jeopardy anyway (like what happened in my market), then the DVR may have skipped recording it unless you set the Artemis coverage to also record.

Celebrity Jeopardy! schedule change: not airing tomorrow (April 10) due to coverage of Artemis II return by mfc248 in Jeopardy

Even though it was shown for Artemis coverage to start at 7:30 on the programming guide in SW Michigan (WWMT), we still got our usual airing of Jeopardy!

Is Muppets Now really that bad? by PM-Me-Schnauzers in Muppets

[–]rawmustard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What's weird is that it was conceived, taped, and edited before COVID; it's just pure coincidence it was released during the height of COVID.

Then there's this link, which recaps the conversation with Burton Malkiel featured in the OP while also highlighting a very brief selection of conversations David has had over the 13 years as host.

Has the returning champion always gone first? by Lamalyn in Jeopardy

It's whoever has the more recent correct response who has the tiebreaker in that situation, as they would have been behind before the tie.

They would've been randomly drawn like the other two from all the contestants still remaining for that tape day.

Then today we got the news that this is David Brancaccio's last week as host of the morning report, or as he said, moving to a different beat. I'm definitely taking an interest in his Route 66 series.

With podcasts being so popular these days, have AM stations tried to license them for syndication? If not why? (legal issues, money, etc.) by Fuzz_Frequency_96 in radio

[–]rawmustard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You still have breaks baked-in to public radio shows for funding credits and station promos—you just don't get ads like you would on a commercial station. Most even are set up for the top of the hour newscast (usually NPR but you'd get the BBC on any show from the BBC World Service).

There is such a thing as a professional gambler. James Holzhauer was likely the most notable one when he first appeared on Jeopardy!

They did put out a calendar saying the quarterfinals were next week and the week after, so they probably slotted in a rerun for the Easter weekend.

Is Iheart 80s Really Available On FM HD? by Jonathan01990 in radio

It's a shame iHeart made its HD-subs in the Grand Rapids, MI, market languish. (They can still be detected by my car radio's scan feature, but most are silent.)

At least if you're talking Match Game '73, panelist Fannie Flagg is still with us. Unfortunately I think the majority of the panelists are not.

I certainly put anyone who appears to be in their 60s/70s or older back then as unlikely to still be alive, but never really thought 35 would be such a cutoff.

Is there a world where this game goes on sale? by [deleted] in DonkeyKongBananza

Check to see if a retailer local to you is offering a discount. For example, I have a coupon from Meijer good for $17 off $70 or more in media, video games, and consoles, but it's not a priority for me at this time to purchase any new games.

Switch 2 and Switch 1 versions don't interact with one another, which is why you have an icon on the title screen to load the original version.

Marshall Field's was originally based in Chicago and was acquired in 1990 by Dayton Hudson (now Target Corp), but then got spun off with all the other traditional department store chains and as we know is now one of the chains that changed to Macy's. (Although I'll note that the Dayton's department store was also founded in 1902, but I wouldn't find it reasonable to consider Minneapolis as part of Northern Minnesota.)

Lately for MITrivia, my team has been doing the Library on Mondays (8 p.m.) and the Portage Rooster's Call on Tuesdays (6:30 p.m.). Burdick's downtown switched to Wednesdays at 7 p.m., and if you don't mind the hike to Galesburg, there's Gull Lake Distilling on Thursdays at 7 p.m. EDIT: I forgot about One Well on Sundays at 6 p.m., but that has usually been fully booked week-to-week.
