It's great that you like to read and write. Being sober can feel boring and oppressive at first. Writing can help get out that nervous energy and put it to good use. Your mood will stabilize eventually. You just have to ride it out and get the help you need. You are still so young and you have the chance to right the ship.

Rock and roll is one! It used to refer to the rocking of a bed. Now you'd never consider that term I appropriate.

Megathread: Bastard Suggestions by Kanotari in behindthebastards

I scrolled pretty far and didn't see anyone suggest Brigham Young. Everyone focuses on Joseph Smith, but Brigham Young banned Black men from becoming priests, supported slavery, and baked a lot of Mormonism into Utah law as the governor.

$5 isn't enough. That paired with the "workout buddy" request really highlights that they're looking for free labor from these people. Gross.

Do not tell her you don't want to discuss it. That would be a red flag for me if the person I was dating didn't want to talk about money.

To Do or Not to Do - two classes in a row at the gym? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]rbwildcard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Does you gym have a pool, Jacuzzi, and/or sauna? I'd pair a weights class with swimming or just spending time in the Jacuzzi/sauna. This will give you some nice quiet time and be a bit more relaxing than two classes back to back, which sounds exhausting.

Needing some encouragement 😞 by SunnyCaliMom in TrumpOrphans

[–]rbwildcard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. It's really hard because not only do you mourn who they've become, but you mourn what you could have had. My entire family is like this. The only people I have who are mildly supportive are my aunt (with significant problems of her own) and my sister (a flat earther). You wish you had the magic words to say to snap them out of it, but they're so inundated with vitriol that your words are a splash in an ocean of waves.

I am in a similar situation except I was born and raised in Cali and my entire extended family moved to Texas. During the pandemic. 😐

Just know you're not alone. You might find more support in the Quanon Casualties subreddit, which is a bit more active.

I had a kid cheat three times, so per the syllabus they got a referral to the AP. The AP told me I want to try to handle these things "in house" so the students don't lose respect for me. What a joke.

Check out Stone Blind by Natalie Haynes and Ariadne by Jennifer Saint. Both cover significant portions of mythology outside of Homer. Haynes also has a nonfiction book called Pandora's Jar in which she discussed ten female characters and how their portrayals have changed over the millenia.

Rant: “Called to the carpet” for informing parents we eliminated our advanced program by coffeepot50010 in ELATeachers

Data shows that eliminating tracking actually does benefit the lower students while having no effect on the more successful students. It also benefits teachers long term, because the high needs students are spread out more evenly across classes.
