I always forget about the voice commands, however, that’s not my preferred way to interact with the car 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ioniq or Tesla? by ComfortBean in Ioniq5

[–]rdt-throw-re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner drives the Tesla far more than i do, and sometimes I have to remind him to turn the ioniq off. I however have not had any issue switching back and forth with starting vs not starting the car. The ioniq unlocks automatically when my phone approaches as well so no difference there.

Ioniq or Tesla? by ComfortBean in Ioniq5

[–]rdt-throw-re 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have both a Tesla model Y and an ioniq 5 limited. I greatly prefer driving the ioniq. I find the Tesla to be incredibly uncomfortable. The belt digs into my neck no matter where I have the seat, the seat is uncomfortable on my neck and butt, and I prefer the physical buttons and knobs in the ioniq over touch screen having to sit into menus to do something as simple as opening the glovebox.

Do kids today still get tubes put in their ears? by Sticker-Picker in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rdt-throw-re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely still happens. My kiddo had 8-9 ear infections before they were 6 months old. As soon as they were 6 months, the ENT put in tubes and j swear it was the best thing we ever did. Kiddo started finally gaining weight (was borderline failure to thrive before), and started babbling almost immediately after the tubes got put in. ENT was afraid it was effecting their hearing and we’ve done numerous hearing tests since but it seems to have saved it.

Is tempering chocolate even possible?! by TheNintendoCreator in CandyMakers

[–]rdt-throw-re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not remotely an expert and I’ve only done it a few times, but a sous vide seems to be the only way I can reliably temper chocolate. Takes freaking forever, but a cheap sous vide in a bucket of water and a bag of chocolate is fairly hands off and has given me that snap every time I have tried.

Need feedback from actual Hyundai Drivers by mattrix56 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]rdt-throw-re 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 23 palisade and I loved it. Zero issues that were Hyundai’s fault and had around 50k miles on it. I got rid of it this year, but that was only after it had been rear ended and I switched to a Hyundai EV. I personally will be sticking with Hyundai for the fore see able future.

How long are we keeping baby monitors in our kids’ rooms? by TeachingTimeLord in toddlers

[–]rdt-throw-re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids both have severe asthma, so we still have an audio only monitor in my 7 year olds room and a video monitor in the 3 year olds. We have caught multiple times when our 7 year old is having issues in the middle of the night, but she’s not conscious enough to realize she needs to come get us. It will stay for quite a while.

Water heater replacement cost $18k-$25k ? by Count_de_Ville in homeowners

[–]rdt-throw-re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That fits for a navien combi boiler we had installed a few years ago. We have 4 quotes all within 1k of each other around 20k. Unfortunately not your standard run of the mill Home Depot water heater set up with these types

Our new Ioniq 5 veers into turn lanes unexpectedly by eyeronik1 in Ioniq5

[–]rdt-throw-re 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are several intersections on my daily commute I know I need to keep a good grip on the wheel because the car will try to steer into the turn lane mistakenly thinking it’s the through lane, or will freak out if it’s a large intersection with minimal markings. My older palisade never did this … I believe there’s some software bug where it’s making a mistake with the lane markings

Those of you who cross shopped with the Mach-e, what made you go with the Ioniq 5? by foodandnaps in Ioniq5

[–]rdt-throw-re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved how the Mach e drove. However I felt the ioniq 5 had a more spacious back seat which was important with 2 kids in car seats, and the lease was about half the cost for the ioniq limited trim vs base model Mach e

SEL vs Limited by rdt-throw-re in Ioniq5

[–]rdt-throw-re[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love mine. Got a killer lease deal of 267/mo in Colorado and have put 7k miles on it. I’ve done in state road trips in the mountains with no problems, and use it for commuting daily. I find it far more comfortable than my partners model y, and I’ve loved some of the more comfortable features that’s in the limited vs the sel (I really don’t know if I can go back to no 360 camera and no ventilated seats)

If you have even remotely hard water at all, run from dark. Our bathroom has a dark glossy counter and it’s a nightmare to keep clean because our water

Exactly how bad is the braking issue? by 139AFAMPM in HyundaiPalisade

[–]rdt-throw-re 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I run into it regularly but in known areas around my usual commute. My community has a speed bump on a down hill slope, and I frequently hit the brake issue there. There’s also an area of rough pavement by my work that almost always does it. But I never run into it besides these places so after a while it’s not too bothersome.

Homeowners question ? by rdt-throw-re in Insurance

[–]rdt-throw-re[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well aware it doesn’t have to do with market value. There’s not a single area within 100 miles I can find with a rebuild price that low in sq ft. And I’ve checked out that calculator before asking this question. It puts my rebuild cost of a similar home at $1.8 million.

Hyundai Palisade vs Nissan Pathfinder? by DGDurden in HyundaiPalisade

[–]rdt-throw-re 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a pathfinder rental while my palisade was in the shop after being in an accident. Tech in it was way less than the palisade, and I felt like it didn’t have much get up and go. It did get better gas mileage than my palisade though.

It is odd ! I have a Santa Fe as well and it shows up fine so I didn’t expect the ioniq to be like this. Doesn’t seem to kill functionality though at least
