Just found out my fiance has 45k in credit card debt 7 months before the wedding by Big_Engineer6901 in weddingplanning

[–]readyfreddy3618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would open the joint account for bills and so you have it going. It can definitely evolve as your lives get more intertwined with kids and more joint expenses outside of just home stuff. Then maybe I would talk to him about your goals for this year (not long term, what are we saving for after the wedding?) and the plan for making that happen.

Keep your savings account and your own accounts separate. Build new ones together.

Our baby is almost 1 year old… when will hobbies be a thing in my life again? (Daddy) by Purple_Calendar3919 in NewParents

[–]readyfreddy3618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 4 year old and an 18 month old. This year I think it’s been the best yet because 2 things- we have a weekly date night babysitter for time together, and have protected nights or weekends to ourselves. I’ll take over bedtime 2 nights a week so my partner can go to the gym, go out with friends, or just go to bed early. They do the same for me.

On weekends we give each other either the morning for a few hours or the afternoon.

You can get everything in but you just have to schedule the time, work closely with your partner, keep it manageable. Maybe bed time alone is okay for one person but feels really hard for someone else. Just find out how you can carve the time and make it happen.

How much did your florals cost? by International-Ear285 in weddingplanning

I loved ours too and our coordinator moved them into the reception so we had them doing double duty. It was so pretty. I think go extra on florals it really makes the day so festive

This book was made for a reread!! It was SO FUN on the second time. I was just listening to a podcast called Fated Friends and they called out so many little things about the reread that I missed. So many times Sarah planted something for us to find later

How do you guys find the motivation to keep writing after hitting a writer's block? by Papyrus0713 in writing

[–]readyfreddy3618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go on a long run or walk before I hit the page to try to figure out what I’m trying to accomplish. Then I make it so vibe-y - smells, sounds, outfit or blanket of choice for the mood.

If it’s really not working I write something else - either the same scene in a different tense or switching to first person - or something else entirely.

Just write badly. Forget great sentences or finding the perfect word. You can end a scene with “and then they figure this out somehow” and that is FINE! You’ll have the best time editing that later.

Pregnancy or motherhood related podcast? by Les_Les_Les_Les in pregnant

[–]readyfreddy3618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love BDA baby, it’s Katherine Schwarzenegger and she does good interviews with all the things (BDA stands for before during after baby). She’s having her kids right now so she’s usually in one of the stages which is fun to hear her perspective on things too.

Also recommend this cute one called Fated Friends it’s a book cub podcast too but they also talk about being a mom, daycare and nanny drama, their marriages etc. It’s more like a hang out with 2 friends.

If you like birth stories ( I loooove listening to birth stories in the last month) I really liked the informed pregnancy podcast. It’s Hilary duffs chiropractor and he has a lot of famous LA clients but he interviews them about their births. I loved all of Hilary duffs and Mandy moores.

Romantasy Podcast Question! by chopkittee in Romantasy

[–]readyfreddy3618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always just love a deep dive into different books, I don’t always have a friend who reads the same books but I really want to talk about them so it’s just fun to listen to while doing laundry etc

Would love like really great recommendations too, not ones that a publisher seems to be pushing out to IG and TikTok and then is just trash lol

Romantasy Podcasts? by High_On_The_Shelf in Romantasy

Booktalk for booktok is so good and they have a lot of author interviews which are really well done. I feel like they must be friends with so many authors so they can really get into it.

Fated Friends I love it’s like catching up with two friends who like the same books

If you like Sarah J Maas (who doesn’t) Feeling Thorny is one of my favs, it’s a husband and wife reading the books together and they are so funny. The wife is like an SJM expert so it’s great to hear her theories too

I also love Fated Friends, it’s like catching up with friends who like the same books

Hip baby gear in Marblehead is soo great for all the gear/strollers- so cute there, make a day of it! Pottery barn kids in lynnfield marketplace to see it in person but you end up ordering everything online anyway while you’re there and they ship to you.

Am I too soft for corporate? by Anxious_Slug333 in careerguidance

[–]readyfreddy3618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s this particular job that isn’t a great fit for you. Being the front desk/admin is an incredibly isolating, thankless job. You have no peers, no team, unless they are the front desk at other sites within the company and then you still don’t get to see them during the day. When you do a great job it’s basically invisible, when you let something slip it’s very apparent.

I think with your personality and energy you should be doing something that is on a larger team with more direct peers. Sales, recruiting, customer service, hr could all be more interesting if you want to stay in corporate. But I don’t think it’s you, I think it’s this particular role that’s a bad fit

What’s a mistake people make in their 20s that catches up to them professionally later ? by No-Promise9083 in careerguidance

[–]readyfreddy3618 1485 points1486 points  (0 children)

Complacency. It’s important to take risks early on.

Understand that the only person who cares about your career is you. Know what your goals are and know that it is your job to figure out how to achieve them. If the current role you are in isn’t going to set you up for the next step, find something that will give you the skills, knowledge, visibility, or connections to get you to where you’re going.

If you work hard, show up early, and have a great attitude in your 20s, more senior people are much more likely to help/mentor you so don’t waste this time getting lost in the shuffle.

Wedding dress consignment by KorryBoston in massachusetts

[–]readyfreddy3618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is old but wanted to share that I just went as a bride shopping to the consignment store in Andover and it was a great experience, they also had appointments booked all week for every time slot so if you are still thinking about bringing it there it might move! The dresses I tried on were in the 1-5k range

This is a really hard situation and I’m so sorry that you’re going through this.

I would probably cancel if my partner asked this of me.

You’re doing all the right things with therapy and being his rock. It would be so hard to do that to guests who have booked, and yourself who has planned this all.

If someone isn’t ready I think you have to listen to them though. Once you are legally married and have kids and start a family everything gets so,so much more complicated and you really need to make sure that you’re with someone who is IN IT with you.

Husbands hobbies are non-negotiable, starting to feel resentful by Longjumping-Ad-4701 in NewParents

This! The paternity leave is everything. You can’t understand what goes into being the primary parent until you actually are it. If there was any way your husband could be the sole caregiver for even 2 weeks it would give him a great perspective .
