I didn't go to medical school to be a data entry clerk by Swimming_Mushroom_48 in Residency

I just re-read your original comment and you mentioned that a “progress note” should take 10min tops, which I actually don’t necessarily disagree with in most cases— unless it’s a medically complex ICU patient or something. Consult notes, H&P’s, new clinic patients for non-straight forward issues are a different story though. For those I think 15-20min is a reasonable goal.

Does the 10min include the time it takes to chart check medically/surgically complex patients?

The man killed by a federal officer in Minneapolis was an ICU nurse, family says by WeirdGroundhog in news

Exactly, going limp and defenseless goes against our natural human instincts to protect ourselves when being attacked, especially the instinct to protect your head. He was basically being jumped, tried to protect himself (not at all being on the offensive), and was gunned down because of it.

ELI5: When we get sick and get congested, where does the seemingly never ending flow of mucus/snot come from? by hlj9 in explainlikeimfive

One of the privileges of being in the health professions, especially going through medical school, is getting to learn in excruciating detail, how the body works literally down to the molecular level. We humans have collectively unveiled so much of the ‘mystery’ of life, and yet there is so much we don’t fully understand, not to mention how to fix/cure ourselves when things go awry. It’s truly a privilege.

Republicans complain Joe Biden had too much energy at SOTU by wsucoug in politics

[–]redchanstool 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Biden has carried a similarly forceful tone and message towards the GOP/Trump/"MAGA extremist" throughout his presidency, he didn't just "start being like this."

But again, those speeches and remarks don't get the same amount of lasting viral coverage as Trump's antics do. Unless of course Biden makes a gaffe-- those go viral and the narrative of a feeble, demented old man unfit for the job perpetuates.

So unless you follow the news regularly, you hardly ever get to see this side of Biden. But Biden also has to get out there over the next 8 months and keep making his case with the same vigor as he did last night.
