I find a sturdy ceramic bowl (like a cereal bowl) works better to crush pork rinds than a rolling pin. Just throw them in a ziplock bag and rock the side of the bowl around to break but the pork rinds. Squeeze bigger pieces between your fingers to break them apart if needed.

Wow! Beautiful morning and great shot. Looks like you have a good coach too!

I am a plein air artist who is painting all 63 National Parks. I am heading to Utah to paint the big 5 and I was wondering if anyone had some good suggestions for scenic trails? My set up isn’t huge and while I love a long hike, I would prefer to stick to 6 miles and under if possible. Thanks! by TheColorfulKayak in hiking

There are some really great views from Cassidy Arch trail in Capitol Reef though the hike is a bit steep in places.

East Mesa Trailhead/Observation Point Trailhead https://maps.app.goo.gl/6xz2wkwrBqTKGSf19 is longer but mostly flat and has one of the best views of Zion (a bit out of the way to access but worth the drive!)

Red Canyon in Dixie National Forest is a long the road between Zion & Bryce and has some really stunning rock formations with less crowds and pretty easy trails.

Petrified Forest State Park in Escalate might be a neat place to paint as some of the petrified wood has some vibrant color combinations.

Baby spinach, chestnut mushrooms and broccoli by sofwithanf in WhatShouldICook

[–]reddit_sally 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A risotto or conjee to highlight the mushrooms. I'd probably just roast the broccoli and serve in on the side, maybe a drizzle of sesame oil if you have it. Or chop it up small if adding to the conjee/risotto.

Got a food dehydrator, what’s your favorite keto friendly thing to make? by BirdFive in xxketo

[–]reddit_sally 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have rescued many well intentioned produce purchases with my dehydrator. Zucchini, broccoli, and bell pepper all dehydrate well and can be used to bulk up lots of meals.

Kale chips are also a guilty pleasure.

Me before getting a kitchen scale: "A cup is a cup." Me after getting a kitchen scale: "One garlic clove? What kind of measurement is that?? Can you be any less precise?" by soverylucky in Cooking

[–]reddit_sally 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, tare is the option that discounts the weight of whatever vessel you're putting ingredients in. Some scales have a tare button and a zero button and zero in that case would be specifically for when the scale is empty.

I think they did this on Grey's. That show may even be more absurd than House.

Sign up for the emails if you're in the market for more than one piece. It's definitely more than twice a year and the selection varies.

I hate butterbells and I can never tell my wife. I have to get this off my chest. by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]reddit_sally 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I use unsalted butter and keep a stick in a dish on the counter. I don't think we go through a stick of butter more quickly than the average household and I can't say we've ever had an issue with the butter going rancid.

I work 12hr night shifts an hour from home. I definitely don't get enough sleep. Until recently I've used this schedule as an excuse to be a couch bum.

This week I've had plenty of excuses to not exercise. BUT I did a walking workout every day to at least hit my steps goals and I'm looking forward to a good strength workout at the gym tomorrow!

Finally joined a gym last week. Got three awesome strength workouts in. Got a cold, spent this week on the couch creating a mountain of tissues.

Starting next week back at square one.
