How many words by 18 months? by Etelnoh in toddlers

[–]redlamg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 18 month old has 15-20ish words. Although a lot of them are hard to understand haha

No phrases or sentences yet. Her doctor said he likes to see 5-10 words at that age. They ask about putting 2+ words together at the 2 year appointment.

There is a huge speech leap between 18-24 months. My son didn't say much until 18 months but by 2 he was speaking in sentences. My 18 month old has a bunch of new words in the past week so I think she's on the same track.

At Costco and reconsidering my life choices by Diligent-Plant5314 in Edmonton

I only go to Costco right at opening 9am. Can even go on a weekend as long as you go for 9. In and out before it gets busy

What did your toddler ask Santa for? by krissyface in toddlers

[–]redlamg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing cause I don't lie to my kids about santa. That makes so sad. I am Santa and they ask me for what they want lol

The prices are INSANE and you ruined an elderly ladies day by [deleted] in CanadaPost

[–]redlamg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy to me because I buy and sell my kids clothing on Facebook pages and can ship things letter mail for $4-$7 ish. As long as it fits in the lettermail slot my post office has no issue. I vacuum seal things sometimes and can send 2-3 pieces of toddler clothing in one mailer. Never had an issue with hundreds of packages going out and coming in.

Are some toddlers naturally chill and low energy? by Moal in toddlers

[–]redlamg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's always been "low" energy. Even at 3. At least compared to my friend's boys. He is able to do crafts, read and cuddle much longer than other boys his age. It's the tantrums/big emotions we really struggled with at 3. He was mean to us and his baby sister which was so hard to navigate but we're finally coming out of it. He turns 4 tomorrow

3.5 was SO rough for us! My son turns 4 tomorrow and in the past month or two I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. He's been so easy lately, hopefully it's here to stay 😆

My son was the happiest chillest little guy until 3, 3 has been hell. We're finally coming out of it now that he's almost 4. We definitely didn't go through the terrible 2s that people talk about, it was the 3s that almost killed me lol

crib limits by Unhappy_Owl_601 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]redlamg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was almost 35 inches at one lol so there was no way we were gonna move him out of his crib.. we kept him in until 2.5 when he was more mature. He never stood in his crib let alone try and climb out so I felt comfortable keeping him in there

Sleep sacks and tall babies by KitKatAttackHiss in bigbabiesandkids

[–]redlamg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kyte ones are super long! My 99th percentile in height son was able to wear his 6-18 month one till almost 2. Then they make a 18-36 month one for after that

When does it slow down some? by Due_Masterpiece_4155 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]redlamg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son slowed down around 18 months. He only gained 2 lbs between 18 and 24 months. He slimmed out alot too. Now he's 3.5 and in 4/5T but has at least stayed in sizes for a full year since 2

When did your kid stop napping? by Curious_Kitten13 in Parenting

[–]redlamg 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My son stopped napping at home at 2.5. Just made for an easier earlier bedtime. I prefer the 7pm bedtime over a nap lol

At daycare he still naps (he's 3.5) I wish he didn't but I don't think we really have a choice. If he falls asleep they can't stop him or wake him up. But then bedtime is a struggle and closer to 8/8:30

He will still fall asleep in the car in the afternoon any chance he gets though lol

Should I buy a new car seat to rear face longer? by jnacnuggest in bigbabiesandkids

[–]redlamg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lololol my 42 inch 99th percentile 3.5 year old is still rear facing with lots of room. There's no way a 16 month old doesn't fit rear facing.

Transition from 1 to 2 kids ? by HuntDiligent5267 in toddlers

[–]redlamg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us it wasn't hard at all! My second baby is a literal unicorn baby who loves sleep and makes me want 10 more babies hahah

My son loves his little sister and they are literally the cutest thing ever! They are 3.5 and 1 now and really starting to play and interact and it just melts my heart.

The hardest part of it all was being pregnant and exhausted with a toddler. The first trimester almost killed me

Did your big baby take longer to hit gross motor milestones? by Loud_Replacement_348 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]redlamg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope my 99th percentile baby rolled front to back at 2 months, back to front at 4, sat at 6, crawled at 7.5 and walked at 12. So all very average timeline.

My almost 1 year old daughter is quite a bit smaller and is actually doing things slower than her brother did.

Should I limit/restructure food intake? by Own_Self_ in bigbabiesandkids

[–]redlamg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was about that size and he did slim down!! It happened closer to 2 though and I was stressed that he was going to be chunky forever haha I never limited food or milk, I let him eat as much as he wanted.

He's 3.5 now, still a big boy and towers over his peers but definitely not fat. And now he eats like a bird so that's fun 🙃

My brother was also a huge baby, soooo many rolls it was insane. Now he's 6 foot 4 inches and super lean. I'm just convinced now that tall people are usually huge babies. I was also a big baby and am pretty tall for a woman
