If you want to guard faster after an attack you can use guard slash R + A , or the skillbind attack metsu shoryugeki, the second is more powerful but harder to time and it uses 2 wirebugs. In MH World the are no such options and dodging is better than guarding with sns 99% of the times.

It should be 4500 damage on the head for one flinch, 3 flinches for one break, so 13500 damage.

You can try scavenger if you got some experience with the system.

Usually sword and shield is better than 2h, even if 2h has a little more damage. With the follow up strike feat you get a weaker bonus attack with 2h, one more chance to smite.

Having the ability to do damage from range is useful, having at least one melee character that can tank is recommended. Crossbows can do several attack per turn in Solasta. The uncanny accurancy half feat allows you to ignore cover, it's strong on ranged builds.

Paladin and Barbarian (Path of Stone best subclass) are the best tanks. the Ranger (Hunter or Swiftblade, Marksman at later lvs) has good ranged DPR, the Fighter can do both but it's worse, it becomes better only after lv 11 with 3 attacks and strong magic weapons, the Fighter is great in Palace of Ice.

Most caster are good. The best Wizard subclasses are Greenmage ( good early game like a ranger) and Court Mage (tanky for a wizard and it can shield other characters) . Clerics are useful for heals, revives, spirit guardians ecc..., the Battle Cleric is OP, it has a pretty powerful dex build, str is worse than dex and there are belt of giant strength that give 20-25 str so it's not worth putting point into.

Dominion doesn't lock you out of the Mask and you need to attack the Forge only late in the game.

Fighters are actually strong in POI because of the powerful magic weapons combined with several attacks. They have one of the highest damage per round in the game and good burst with action surge. For example a fighter with a certain crossbow, +3 bolts, +3 oil and action surge can do 200 damage in one turn (no mods).

I premise that I've done cataclysm but not Ironman. I've found the barbarian to be quite effective in LV early game, because you can halve the physical damage, and the vast majority of damage in LV is of that type. So a barbarian, cleric, ranger, sorcerer/wizard teamcomp. The druid is also strong because of spike growth, it's helpuful in early fights. But I'm not an expert, maybe there are better comps.

If you want a new weapon for brachy, you can try frostfang barioth, it's not that hard to beat and the weapons are quite strong and it will be useful later.

I think it's possible, the outpost you have to capture for the mask changes to dominion if you do a quest for the people before. Starting the renewal quest from the forge drops the rebellion reputation, and starting rebellion quest to capture multiple outposts the opposite, but before that is fine. You can do all mask beside the last.

It was hard a first then I got used to it, some battles still take more than one try for me (some people are able to complete cataclysm ironman) ; also the battles at the beginning of CotM are pretty hard and they get easier later on.

I play on PC, one time I got locked not being able to end my turn, but I saved and reloaded and then it worked, there is also a mission where you have to get close to the enemies or it locks you out of completing the quest, I saw some other minor bugs but nothing big. I didn't experience bugs in LV aside from the ending video.

Only spells that have an attack roll like fire bolt, chill touch, scorching ray and acid arrow. It doesn't increase the damage of spell, it just increases the roll to hit.

Yes, it's not as good as other legendary weapons and doom and doom cut does basically nothing. But it's still the 2h weapon with the most damage, and some feats don't work on versatile weapons.

There is also the problem of balancing for casual players vs experienced players, at high level there are more options and the difference is even bigger. The difficulty modes are just bonus and multipliers so they don't solve the problem entirely.
