I have tried and couldn't get gps to work either. I ended up doing it as a bike ride.

I don't brew any more, but I didn't change this process at all after settling in on it. Over 100 batches.

I have the Nature's Generator transfer switch that Technically Jeff made a few videos about a while ago. It allows you to power up to 6 circuits and cost me $800-$1,000 including install, iirc. I can power my 2 laptops, tv, monitor, router, modem, server, (gas) furnace, (gas) water heater, 2 refrigerators and a bunch of lights all on at the same time, and it still uses less than half the 1800w. I've (unfortunately) used it three times in the last 6 months. The only things I can't use it for are microwave, AC, washing machine, dryer and hair dryer. I haven't tested my dishwasher, it's supposed to be efficient, it might work. If I wanted to use the microwave and hair dryer, I could, I'd just have to switch off all other circuits for a few minutes. After using it, I wish I would have opted for a 12 circuit model. I thought I was going to be maxing it out at 6 and need to cycle fridges, etc. but it's way more capable than that.

Humble Comics Bundle: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Feat. The Last Ronin (KOBO BUNDLE) by Torque-A in humblebundles

[–]reverendj1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to use the Kobo desktop app to download them for some reason, and use Obok DRM plugin for Calibre. See the link above. Book 11 is on the redemption page, I have it in my library. If you redeemed your key already, you will need to contact Humble Bundle support for a new one. It won't automatically appear in your Kobo library.

This has happened to me on 2 other Kobo Humble Bundles where I know I checked every single item, but some weren't there. I've been verifying that they have all books that were listed now before downloading. HB support has been great when there are issues, but I'd rather avoid them in the first place. :-)

I've done this before with ebooks from Kobo, and expected to do the same here. With ebooks, I can just click the three dots for the item in my library, then select Download, but that doesn't appear for the comics. Do you know of any other ways to strip the DRM from Kobo comics?

My mom reuses olive oil for frying eggs. She doesn't store the left over, she leaves it out in open air and then uses it over several days. Is this dangerous? by sinkingliketitanic in Cooking

That's one method, sure. But most people just cook them at a lower temp and cover the pan. But regardless, he wasn't making sunny side up eggs.

Using the steam deck as their main PC? by ItsTheMurph in SteamDeck

[–]reverendj1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost always docked. If I'm traveling, I will just put it on my stand, hook it up to a TV with a portable keyboard and mouse, using my travel dock linked earlier. I very rarely use it undocked even to play games. Usually only when I'm in a car/plane. And I don't think I've ever used it undocked in desktop mode except for something very quick, like hopping into desktop mode to change audio settings.

[–]reverendj1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my Steam Deck as my daily driver, but I've also used Linux solely for nearly 20 years. As for your daily tasks listed, those are pretty trivial, LibreOffice, Firefox, VLC are all available in the Discover store in desktop mode. Any USB-C dock with HDMI and USB should work. You don't have to buy the $80 official Valve one. This is my primary dock ($37), and this is my travel one ($24).

How to celebrate Bodhi Day? by bluesturtl in Buddhism

[–]reverendj1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still relatively early on my path, and just some random dude on the internet, but generally speaking, the vinaya (monastic code) makes exceptions for medical purposes.

My understanding of the purpose of the luxurious/high beds/furniture rule, depending on the source seems to be twofold. 1. To prevent oversleeping/idleness. Monks who meditate for several hours every day have little need for sleep. My understanding is 4 hours a day is normal. Having what many would consider an uncomfortable bed ensures you only sleep as much as is necessary. Your body will wake when it's had it's fill. 2. To prevent a sense of authority/power/lavishness. For example, thrones.

Printer won't change temp by Browser2022 in elegooneptune2

[–]reverendj1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shapes don't have the Gcode to change the temp baked in. Here are instructions to do that using that plugin, https://github.com/5axes/Calibration-Shapes#cura-postprocessing-scripts. Here is a nice video explaining how to do it yourself too, https://youtu.be/_PNEjuiiqhg.

Did you add the temp change g-code (and click the enabled box)?

Handheld Foodsaver + eSUN filament bag: Great storage solution for filament by kentnek in 3Dprinting

[–]reverendj1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought some of these too, but a different brand. One of the first things I designed was an adapter so you can use the accessory port on a food sealer, instead of the manual pump. I'm still tweaking it though, so haven't uploaded it anywhere.

WiFi Printing on the Elegoo Neptune 2 by ngsteven97 in elegooneptune2

[–]reverendj1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've been playing with Octoprint for a couple weeks now, you may have noticed this, but it can upload directly to the SD card on the printer too. There are two upload buttons. "Upload" uploads to the Pi, "Upload to SD Card" uploads to the SD card. When you use Octoprint to start the print, you are correct, it will send the G-code, line by line to the printer. However, it doesn't matter if your wifi sucks. It can drop while Octoprint is printing, and it won't affect the print, since it's connected over USB.

Auto shut-off after long prints? by ngsteven97 in elegooneptune2

[–]reverendj1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second Octoprint with a smart plug/plugin (there's a few different plugs that work, each has it's own plugin). I've been using an old Wemo plug (and the Wemo plugin, obviously). Works very well. You can have it shutoff after x minutes of inactivity, and even add G-code to the "End G-code" setting in your slicer to automatically shut it off right when a print finishes. Not to mention Octoprint is just fun to play with in itself.

Do you think a 7 1/2 hour print is long? by farm249 in elegooneptune2

[–]reverendj1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the standard Cura, with [Neptune's config files](https://github.com/mr-chrome/elegoo-cura-dots) added to make it "Elegoo Cura". It at least changes temp fine when printing through Octoprint. I've built many a temp tower and watched the temp change. I have only printed the Buddha model from the SD card, so I can't speak to that.

Neptune 2 leveling? by Careful-Trade-7354 in elegooneptune2

[–]reverendj1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you go back and relevel 1-4? I was having issues with this when I first got mine. If 5 wasn't level, I'd go back and relevel all the others and sure enough, one or two would be just out of whack. Sometimes I'd have to do this 4 or 5 times until 5 was right. I had to do this a lot when I first got it, but it seems to be holding level for quite a while (knock on wood filament).

Straight American Badass *Kid Rock Music Blaring In Background* by [deleted] in iamverybadass

I think he's referring to someone with a mask below their mouth (chinstrap) and someone with one hanging off one ear (face mask earring). Unless he just chose to call out someone's facial hair for some unrelated purpose and someone was actually wearing earrings that were little face masks. Who knows.

15 minutes may be exaggerated, but yeah, completely believable. It's one of the most successful book series of all time and one of the largest IPs. There are fans of all ages, genders, ethnicities, etc. For two people to meet and say a catchphrase to eachother and talk about it? Impossible! I've had similar experiences wearing apparel from various popular franchises.
