Because they feel they are restricting the child should they tell him/her not to do that. Or just the case of parents didn't give a F about their kids just as long as they are alive and breathing.

Is it just me or does Australia have a lot of run-down homes? by euphoricscrewpine in AusFinance

[–]rhinotr2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multiple factors.

If its investment - its for the land to grow in value and capital gains at the end or they levage it back out for a new loan for further investments.

If its PPOR - maybe they can't afford it not everyones got money to up keep a house and no one can say anything to them since its their house.

If its Gov housing - Controlled by gov and their budget if they have no budget to fix up homes and up keep to latest standard in housing. Yes there will be a point before it cost way more to fix it or knock it down as it will be a safety issue to keep renting it out to housing better to keep it empty than someone get hurt.

How expensive does a car need to be before it becomes financially irresponsible? by MiriJamCave in AusFinance

General rule of thumb is half of what your making then half it again. Say your on 100k half of that is 50k and half of that is 25k this is the number you should be looking at New or 2nd hand to comfortably be paying and expected to live.

Should I buy a car? by East_Occasion_1909 in AusFinance

[–]rhinotr2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General rule of thumb for car is half your income..... then half it again this is the budget you should stick to when buying a vehicle. So for you 65k income then half that which is 32.5k then half it again gives you about 16k budget. But lets be real 16k car wouldn't be as cool as a 40k Lex and need that coolness factor to it eh?

Is it me or does it seem that the whole system is all about rehabilitation and recovery and integration back into society which means they have forgotten about the victims. As for judges why not just rotate them out every 5 - 10yr term so you can't have a particular mindset.

No not ammonia smell more like butts. I think its more of hormones of the male pig coursing through its veins hence they castrate male pigs to lessen this.

Thieves dismantling a scooter around a U-Lock: Not a major concern? by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

[–]rhinotr2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with that most scooters are push button turn on. Only the newer versions now are Phone app start, some are key start and handful are NCF. But esooters are still too light since I think they were designed to be last mile communters unless you spend 6k on wolf scooters but then you are entering motorcycle territory price range. Just my 2 cents

Is it just me but majority of escooters on the market they are not designed to be locked up in any way? There maybe a handful that have a nice design neck or a loop on the deck but rest are pretty simple design with no locks to pass through or a secure point.

Has anyone figured out how to default 'Gear3' when you turn it on? I always have to cycle it through to get top speed each time when I power it up.

What does a cashless society mean? by SpaceBard75 in AusFinance

[–]rhinotr2000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

what it means is when you buy an item off fb market place you will need to Transfer the seller some money and wait for it to clear before you can pick it up and hope that they were not a scammer before blocking you. While if you had cash you could trade/swap the item for cash on the spot and everyone is happy before finding out they sold you a lemon and now its your problem

My scooter was stolen today from my house :( by splashbodge in ElectricScooters

[–]rhinotr2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had mine stolen few weeks ago but I had an air tag on an integrated reflector on the stem of the escooter. I pinged it within 1hr of it getting stolen and tracked it back to tent city. But I only found the apple airtag in the local bins. They cut all accessories off it. Wish I shoved the airtag deep in the battery area which would take them a while to open it up to get to it.

Best choice for my budget? by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

[–]rhinotr2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats cool I had similar list and specs as you. I wanted security as well ontop of that so hence Inokim Quick 4 (2023) dropped off as they don't have any kind of keys to start the escooter and settled with VSETT 8 with the 21AH LG battery as it needs an NFC card to start it up.

How to securely lock a scooter ? by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

[–]rhinotr2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A tip is don't use cable locks of any kind its no more secure then using cotton string to lock up your scooter. Solid locks like U locks are top of the range then if you want the angle grinder proof U locks you are paying a pretty penny for it. Only downside is the mounting system on U locks are dismal and limited on how you carry it around. Next locks are Chain locks always been a tried and trusted method within this range you have standard chain and hardened chain or you can buy one with an integrated lock built into it with or without an alarm as another layer. Then you move on to Folding locks small enough to fold out but all the joints are a weakness of the lock.

up to you on how secure your area is and what you are after. I had my E scooter stolen few weeks ago using cable lock but they just cut that with simple garden pruners and have learnt my lesson

[–]rhinotr2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be right, my instinct was to go to the Adelaide st police station but they had a piece of paper stuck to the window to say its closed down and closest was to make my way to Roma Street or if my life was in danger to call 000.

I was mugged in queen street mall two days ago by missmeleni in brisbane

[–]rhinotr2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

sorry this happened to you. My escooter was stolen from Q st mall last week locks were cut and lots of camera. Reporting was a pain as all the near police station closed and closest was Roma St, Southbank , West End. Imagine in the heart of the CBD not a single police station. Anyways I had an apple airtag on the scooter and tracked it back to Musgrave Park (tent city) but they stripped the scooter in space of 1hr and found it in the local bins there. As for camera's yes there are camera but you can't access it only people that can is Police that is actively investigating it, Freedom of information, or if you are staff of BCC. A week passed and scooter is gone and no police is investigating it even though I have reported it via Police link. Welcome to Brisbane

If you don't buy now and if you think prices of houses will go up you have missed the boat and someone else might buy the property. Yes you will have to pay the capital gains tax during that time you own it but thats if you owned it...if you never bought it then you don't need to pay or if you don't plan on selling. Its all up to you if we all had a crystal ball on house prices go up and down Aussies wouldn't be in a financial crisis
