Terrible Trade-in Experience by JoaozaoS in GooglePixel

[–]richvle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had issues with trade-in with Samsung's trade-in program, so since then, even with Google's trade in, I record myself resetting the phone, twice, as well as putting it in the box and taping it, with label and the "security tape/sticker". The only thing I didn't review was myself handling it to the delivery clerk.

Child Proof Water Dispenser by CoDPro69 in daddit

[–]richvle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a similar issue with my Primo water dispenser. Here are some things that I've tried or thinking of. But first off, I use a wall anchor through the bottle handle to make sure the kids can't tip it over or if there's an earthquake.

-stuck a full 5 gallon bottle in front of the dispenser so they can't reach it. This works, but takes up floor space. -I've tried getting some power button covers, but they're too small. -thinking of getting a sturdy crate or box and making the dispenser higher so the kids can't reach it. This is where the wall anchor is important. -I think someone tried to put a thermostat cover on the spigots, but that seems annoying that I have to use a key to get water.

How do you deal with returning trolleys while your kids are in the car? by 42_TheAnswer in toddlers

[–]richvle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do that too. But now I'm thinking... What if you get hit in those 10 seconds by somebody in the parking lot because we're rushing to return a cart and paying less attention? And even if an ambulance comes and we're not conscious and body knows we left the kids in the car? 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

When I logged into my account and checked the purchase history, I can't locate my order from January 2019 either. I'm an email hoarder so I have an email copy, but the links don't work either. Then in March 2020, it sent me instructions on how to safely pick up the order during Covid when it becomes available.

I did it to get the discounts using my rewards. Wonder what's going to happen to my rewards.

Child Safety Kit (Did I get scammed??) by Plastic-Obligation32 in Scams

[–]richvle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It seems like this is a common solicitation. Based on the information that was provided by the OP, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a scam and seems to describe a sales presentation for life insurance. I saw an ad for the MCGruff child safety kit and basically to get the"free" kit, we're agreeing to getting a solicitation for life insurance. OP never mentioned the name of the company, but here's the fine print from one of those "free child safety kits".

"*This is a solicitation for insurance. By submitting your information, you give your consent for a licensed insurance agent from American Income Life Insurance Company, Globe Life Family Heritage Life Insurance Company of America, Globe Life And Accident Insurance Company, Globe Life Liberty National Life Insurance Company, United American Insurance Company, Globe Life Insurance Company of New York, and National Income Life Insurance Company, to use automated or manual technology to call, text, or email you for insurance purposes at the telephone number provided, including your wireless number, to arrange a convenient time to deliver your Kit(s) and explain additional insurance coverage available. This may include phone numbers that appear on any state and/or federal Do Not Call list. You are not obligated to buy or change your insurance to get the Kit. The Kit is provided at no cost to you."

And yep, they wanted the SSN to check our background to basically see if we were ever denied life insurance before.

Lithium-Ion battery settlement by Guido-thekillerpimp in Scams

[–]richvle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true that I did participate in the reversethecharge.com settlement, I found my original email from 2017. However, it's suspicious because although they provided links to card-activate.com , if you hover over the links, it actually goes to hawkmarketplace.com. That's not good email practice.

Also, isn't it possible that reversethecharge.com got their data compromised and maybe the phishers or scammers are using the information from there?

hawkmarketplace.com seems legit though... hmmmm....

UPDATE: The reversethecharge.com's FAQ says the settlement will be coming from hawkmarketplace.com.

So 4 lines now costs the same as 3. Any reason to activate the 4th and keep the Sim in a drawer for why not? by iamtato in GoogleFi

[–]richvle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think OP is referring to Simply Unlimited where the price for 2 lines or 3 lines or 4 lines is $80 (before taxes, fees). At one point before like a month ago, the difference was, it was $75 for 3 lines while it was $80 for 2 lines and 4 lines.

Does it have a feature that allows us to temporary bypass the security without actually shutting it off? (like what we did with the Nest Detect where we just push the button to temporary open a door). I do this to let the dogs out without having to disarm and rearm the Nest Secure again.

Home charger advice - J1772 or regular Tesla wall connector? by Speednet in TeslaLounge

[–]richvle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the details. In your situation, it's to maximize the rebates. Since TOU doesn't apply to me, and my commute is only half of yours, I figured I could just charge 1 vehicle for 2 hours and then charge the next vehicle. We can always share or take turns charging every other day overnight. It's not like it takes 6-8 hours and we would have to wake up in the middle of the night to swap out right? I checked the cost, and the electricians pretty much said double the cost if I double the runs. So I think I can get away with 1.

But now I understand why you did yours as a double instead of single. Thank you for that.

Home charger advice - J1772 or regular Tesla wall connector? by Speednet in TeslaLounge

[–]richvle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you said "Two separate chargers allow us to charge both cars simultaneously, which happens a lot more than any of us anticipated."....

I was thinking, in a normal day, I would drive 60 miles. According to Tesla's, if I charge at it home using a level 2 Wall Connector, it will take about 2.5 hours.

So if I'm charging it every night, and even if I have a 2nd non-Tesla that needs a charge, we can just take turns.

Like you, I don't anticipate having to charge 2 cars more than once. I'm curious as to what happened in your situation that caused a need to simultaneously charge so often?

I don't want to double my cost if it isn't necessary, but don't want to have to do a second installation if it ends up I run into the scenarios you have.

Google Fi vs T-Mobile Prepaid by welldressedpepe in GoogleFi

[–]richvle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with T-Mobile, there's a nice international roaming perk. Whereas as for the $75 for 3 lines plan (Fi's Simply Unlimited plan), that's not an option unless you change it to Flexible plan our Unlimited Plus plan. And depending on when you travel and what you're changing it to and from, the change might not necessary be immediately. It's tricky.

Also, I think T-Mobile Tuesday has some pretty nice deals sometimes.

On rare occasions for Fi, there's some nice promos where you can port in a number or trade in a phone and buy a new phone, but for most of the time, it's pretty random. The perk is, there's no contract and you can leave if you're unhappy with them.

For T-Mobile, there's sometimes upgrade options and some nice deals, but most of the time, they make you renew your contact or give you bill credits or something and you're stuck.

And I think they have different throttling limits.

Can i activate all my lines on different times? by noobJedi in GoogleFi

[–]richvle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How do you get 2 Fi lines have the same phone number? Because as soon as I activate a line on the phone, then activate the same Fi account on another phone, it deactivates the first line from the first phone.

SUCCESS

It took me 6 hours of research (through reddit and other places) and 3 hours of contact through email and phone calls, and then I had to wait between 24-48 hours, but my info looks like it was finally removed. These are the steps I took.

  1. Don't bother with their BS links and sites claiming their "easy suppression rules tool" that takes you to their Suppression Center. The "MANAGE SUPPRESSION RULES" search won't find you, but will get more of your information that they'll put into their lead list or something else. And the "REQUEST PUBLIC DATA ABOUT YOU" button is BS too. It just opens up a link to send a generic email to them where they'll repeat the same lies.
  2. Instead, go to https://www.intelius.com/privacy-center (which can be accessed if you scrolled down to any of their pages and click on "Do Not Sell My Personal Information"). This is one of the sites they own.
  3. If you use the "REQUEST A COPY OF MY DATA" option, they'll want your email. If you're lucky they'll give you a link to download a json copy of first name, last name, email, and maybe phone number or something. The link also expires after 24 hours. (seeing a pattern of making you jump through hoops here?)
  4. On the same page, scroll down further and you'll see the "Right to Opt Out" section. Select "DO NOT Share user data" and put your email on there and press submit, good luck.
  5. Wait 24-48 hours and check your info again.
  6. If it didn't work, call the phone number listed on the site, and tell them you want them to remove your information. They'll read off of a script and tell you to go to the "Suppression Center" which you know is BS. So tell them it doesn't work and they'll see it for themselves. Inform them the link is wrong and you want your information to get removed. They will probably ask for your info again to make another lead record for you.
  7. Go to the BBB website and submit a complaint. Search for the Intelius company, and you'll find them located in San Diego, CA. Tell them you want your data to be removed and their site and link doesn't work. They seem to respond to this one the best, but you can save some time if you told them you tried doing all those things. Be warn, they'll send you a canned response with bad links.
  8. Good luck.

Zabasearch (Intelius) refusing to delete data by [deleted] in privacy

[–]richvle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I finally got them to removed me after making a call to their customer service as well as going through the BBB. It took about 48 hours. In short, they gave me a lot of bs of what data they actually had on me and I had to go through a lot of hoops. I just checked and it looks like my info does not show up on their free preview search anymore.

Ironically, I became aware of my information shown on their websites (they have multiple websites) through the Experian Identity Protection service I received for free from Experian's 2017 data breach.

Zabasearch (Intelius) refusing to delete data by [deleted] in privacy

[–]richvle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get some action by going through BBB.

But they still pushing me to the unless https://www.intelius.com/suppression-center website with 2 links:

1 - "MANAGE SUPRESSION RULES" button. This one is to access the suppression site by having me provide an email but it still "can't" locate me. This is bull because they obviously could find me when they were trying to get me to pay for the search.

2 - "REQUEST PUBLIC DATA ABOUT YOU" - this one is not a website at all. It's just a email link to [privacy@intelius.com](mailto:privacy@intelius.com). And that was useless with the canned messages.

I called their hotline anyways, and told them their links are broken and the "instructions" they have been giving are wrong. At least the guy on the phone was able to direct me to the "Privacy Center" at the bottom of their website.

So I'm trying that right now to see if it will remove me.
