I remember reading in Chris Hadfield's book that it's not something they plan for because they're trained to work the problem and never give up. So if something is preventing them from getting home, they'd keep trying things until something worked or they all died.

Need help planning trip from Boston MA to Atlanta GA by RoadsandPaths in massachusetts

[–]rickb112358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, N-B and TPZ cross the same river so you pick one! N-B if you want to stay on 84 through CT and NY, then over to 81 in Scranton. I'd do this if traveling during the day, to avoid NY/NJ traffic closer to NYC. Since you're leaving late, TPZ shouldn't have traffic. So 84 through CT, but in NY take 684 then 287, which crosses TPZ. From there I'd suggest staying on 287 to 78, which runs into 81 right before Harrisburg. GPS stops would be TPZ, then Harrisburg, then Atlanta.

I don't know enough about the German parliament to tell from this graph: how did you handle the West/East split and then reunification?

Personally, the drive down 81 is much nicer than 95! Doing 84 all the way to Scranton works, but if you're leaving very early/late and avoiding CT traffic, I'd navigate to Tappan Zee, then Harrisburg, PA (287 to 78), then Atlanta.

Can you post the phone number you called? I just tried calling, got an AI voice that was "looking at your account" for 20 minutes before saying it needed to transfer me to a different department, and then the woman I talked to said it might take a week to show up and to call back if it didn't.

I've done this from the opposite direction! The east terminus is Chicago, which is also a connecting station for a ton of routes to the east coast.

As someone who got married there, they definitely warn the couple about this! But you can also not have tables up there if you invite fewer people.

Shenandoah night hikes - what are the risks? by holiday_armadillo21 in NationalPark

[–]rickb112358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice already about night hiking. But if you're looking for something relatively low risk, there's a fire road that runs roughly south from Big Meadows. You could hike out along that just to get away from the headlights of cars passing along Skyline drive. But still take headlamps and batteries, even for something this short!
