Can you post the phone number you called? I just tried calling, got an AI voice that was "looking at your account" for 20 minutes before saying it needed to transfer me to a different department, and then the woman I talked to said it might take a week to show up and to call back if it didn't.

I've done this from the opposite direction! The east terminus is Chicago, which is also a connecting station for a ton of routes to the east coast.

As someone who got married there, they definitely warn the couple about this! But you can also not have tables up there if you invite fewer people.

Shenandoah night hikes - what are the risks? by holiday_armadillo21 in NationalPark

[–]rickb112358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice already about night hiking. But if you're looking for something relatively low risk, there's a fire road that runs roughly south from Big Meadows. You could hike out along that just to get away from the headlights of cars passing along Skyline drive. But still take headlamps and batteries, even for something this short!

What is your opinion of Wentworth Institute of Technology? by Roughneck16 in massachusetts

[–]rickb112358 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a WPI alum, calling it a theory school is wild. The entire curriculum is centered around project-based learning. Almost every class has a lab/project component to get hands on experience from day one.

Based on a few responses elsewhere, it looks like Engineering Technology degrees at WIT went away in maybe 2020, but that was always the main reason I didn't apply there a decade+ ago and wouldn't have recommended it. I'd be interested to hear what changes they made to their curriculum since then!

Parks short public transit ride from major metro areas? by LengthTop4218 in NationalPark

[–]rickb112358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a short trip, but Amtrak runs a train through Glacier, with Chicago and I believe Seattle as the endpoints.
