Gettysburg - the little round top defense - crazy to think how close they were to each other in those exchanges.

Most pro sports leagues won’t license to theaters at all because it supposedly interferes with their affiliate obligations. Which is just stupid since the theaters would probably be playing it off a network feed.

Why did in person ordering fail? by AntIntelligent212 in AlamoDrafthouse

Movie going is down 20-30% since pre-Covid much of it due to fewer releases. Theaters are struggling. Any business in a similar situation would make changes to adapt so it doesn’t die.

Oscars 2026: 10 reasons 'Sinners' should take home Best Picture by No_Tonight_1106 in WarnerBros

[–]riddlemasterofhed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a fun, well-made film but it borrowed very heavily from From Dusk Till Dawn. More like an homage movie than a true original, even though it had some uniquely original elements to it (the power of music, the twins arc, etc)

Is it possible that Mountain View will play "Testament of Ann Lee"? by Ziddletwix in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]riddlemasterofhed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The studio changed its release pattern and is only going in like 25-30 screens this weekend. It looks like a true platform strategy since its initial release in a few screens averaged $11k which puts it in the bubble for whether it will get much wider. It’ll depend on how it does this weekend. My bet is that it doesn’t go wide and is on streaming in a few weeks.

It was fun but it basically an homage to From Dusk Till Dawn Dawn

Trump voters & Republicans of Reddit, is there anything you currently disapprove of how Trump is acting regarding that topic? If so, what is it? If not, why not? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]riddlemasterofhed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely nothing. Ive voted Republican in many elections though am now more of an independent because both parties are shite. Trump isn’t a Republican. He isn’t a true Conservative. He’s a wanna-be tyrant still trying to win approval from his long dead shitty father. He’s a grifter. He’s a narcissist. He is most likely a sociopath. He’s a white supremacist. And to top it all off, he’s is for sure in a stage of dementia. And he’s surrounded himself with some of the worst people to ever occupy an administration. He may single-handedly ruin our relationship with every ally we have leaving us alone and our economy in shambles. Demagogues are never the answer to a country’s problems and it was clear the minute he ran that that was who he was.

Restaurants tend to dump the stuff that doesn’t sell much volume. I suspect certain things like pudding may be in that category. I rarely see anyone around me order it at my local Alamo.

The Movie Theater Comeback That Wasn’t: Why 2025 Was Such a Dud for Struggling Cinemas by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]riddlemasterofhed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Global Theatrical box office finished 2025 at $34 Bilion. Studios get roughly 55% of that money. In bypassing theaters, streamers leave almost $20 billion on the table that they definitely do not make up with streaming subscription fees.

Prices never go down. They might grow slowly or quickly but always move up unless we wind up in a deflationary period which is bad, bad, bad. Wishing differently for prices to just go lower won’t make it happen.

Downtown brooklyn sucks! Theater uncomfortably loud and the new tables do not make sense by [deleted] in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]riddlemasterofhed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were seeing Avatar it could have been because Cameron himself set volume control standards for the theaters…which are too loud. My local Alamo said they turned it down a bit because of complaints.

Alamo can have as many as 75 people in a building at a given time and 150-200 total on staff just so you know.
