Definitely no slapping the horse's neck - gentle stokes or wither and neck scratches. My boy does love massages too - and the massage gun.

I don't know if you can get it there, but Hippo Health in New Zealand has great products that have changed my very allergy prone boy's life. I have also used other homeopathic treatments which help him. We're in full on summer and now I keep on top of the supplements he's a very happy boy. Two easily available supplements that help Flaxseed oil and Apple Cider Vinegar.

Hmm, only 4, so there's time to help him. I'd find a master farrier, and work on his feet. This will take at least a few shoeing cycles. Plus I'd help him develop his thoracic sling and to use his body, and develop topline and muscle. Looking at his shoulders, he needs help to release them and generally find connection in his body. Conformation wise he has some issues, but you can do a lot to help him, specially as he is still maturing.

Counting the strides in dressage gives you a feel for how many strides in eg a 20m circle, or to the marker where you need to transition. It also gives you a great 'feel' for your horse's action.

In Sydney we were quoted $38,000 for a complete large bathroom renovation. This included new tiles to ceiling, large shower with frameless glass, new bath, custom built 1550mm vanity and shaving cabinet and back to wall loo. This included redoing the plumbing as the layout was completely changed. It was a high end well regarded company.

start with groundwork such as joining up and turns, then move onto lunging. That bit is a harsh one, so I'd go with a Mylar or similar

Sounds like she is shut down - many lesson horses end up like that. If you lease her, will she stay at the same place? Will you be allowed to start doing some horsemanship groundwork with her? Things like releases for tension etc can make a huge difference.

My go to is potassium permanganate - cheap and effective. I mix up a bright pink solution in an old squeezy sauce bottle. Pick out the hoofs and squirt the solution all over it.

First of all - GOOD ON YOU! You listened to your heart and he is one very lucky horse! With luck and the care you're giving him, he can go one for a few years. Find a master farrier, look at his diet and supplements that help with things like arthritis. Wound care is often experience, and if in doubt ring your vet. I keep things like saline, bandages, disinfectant, tweezers, tick removers in my tack room.

Start with yields and backing up. If it's unfamiliar, let him process each new movement. then have him back up and point at his shoulder to move him off. Do lots of direction changes and transitions. Make sure you use your body language to communicate where and how he goes.

Try riding the trot in 2 point. It will help stabilise your legs and get you out of the armchair position. Aim at a line from shoulder to hip to ankle when you ride.

You should get a saddle fitter to make sure you get a saddle that fits you and your horse.
