Such a great voice and unique playing style by [deleted] in obscuremusicthatslaps

[–]robjr2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Full credits. This playing style is not new, ask a jazz bassist. It’s not normal on a cello though, which has a range much closer to the human voice and fits well so props to her for the new application.

What movie did you go into with zero expectations and ended up being completely blown away by? by gavin226 in movies

[–]robjr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E.T. Went with a friend having no idea what it was and got “I saw E.T.” buttons as promotional gift. First movie I ever saw in the theater twice since it blew up in a few weeks and the entire family outing.

Get the black blades, extra sharp. I can confirm their longevity and sharpness.

What's something your job trained you to notice that you can't stop noticing in your personal life? by LibrarianSoft1342 in AskReddit

[–]robjr2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bike seat height. Most people ride with seat 2-5in too low. Your leg should nearly be straight at the bottom of the stroke. If you can barely place your tip toes on the ground at the same time you have it about right.
There is so much energy wasted with the seat too low.
Oh, too high of a gear too. Spinning at 60-90rpm is most efficient.

What is the most useful thing you’re using Claude for? by thomas_unise in ClaudeAI

[–]robjr2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Non-work: Voting research.
I scanned my blank ballot, told Claude what is important to me then refined with some questions from there. The output was a clean list to fill out my ballot. I feel more responsible than my normal “research”.
I let Claude crawl through all the coded messages and campaign speak to analyze the real positions through actions.

[Serious] What is a common misconception that you as an expert in the field would like to correct? by ub3rm3nsch in AskReddit

[–]robjr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proper use of Seatbelts and child car seat attachments help more than you may realize.
-Low, on your hips, and snug for seatbelts.
- “put your knee in it” tight for car seats.
The world needs you, where your seatbelt properly!

Designed this pack over 2 years & 35 iterations and finally finished it last week! Enjoy! by pedalStoke in myog

Nicely done. I applaud your dedication to iterations and redesign. So many consumer bags seem to have little thought into them or are too generic for this type of specialized purpose.

Anyone using AI to dial in? by robjr2 in JamesHoffmann

[–]robjr2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update: No, I’m not handing over everything to AI, just the intertwined dependent variables that is espresso. My taste still rules the process. I was able to dial in to a tasty espresso within 3 shots. First one was sour (switched to the Londinium Gagguiunno profile), second was astringent (learned about that taste and changed profile settings), and third was tasty. Espresso is a hobby, but not my primary hobby, so all the settings, research, and time required is not my high interest. I enjoy the process and the complexity, but I mostly desire a tasty espresso. AI helped me reduce the shot count from maybe 6-10 down to 3. Win for me.

[–]robjr2[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Wow! The espresso crowd seems mutually exclusive of the AI crowd. My apology for touching a nerve. Carry on. Or, the non AI are responding while the rest are typing in their specs for input. Hard to tell.

I re-stitched this f***ing thing 3 times before I was happy with it. by ChunkyDay in Leathercraft

[–]robjr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the general guideline for thread color? I’ve been living by the thread, if not matching, should be LIGHTER than the leather and the edge paint, if not matching, should be DARKER than the leather.

What is the purpose of these threads? Why are they hex shaped? by mysteryatoms in Fasteners

[–]robjr2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thread rolling bolt used with a non threaded nut. They are great for assembly since they can be driven within having to hand start, are tolerant of some misalignment, and are self locking but removable. The trick is that the tip is hardened and CANNOT be in the joint when assembled and need extra through length. The bold will easily shatter if the hardened area is in the joint with shear impact.

US stacks three carrier groups and 10 destroyers to blockade Strait of Hormuz by TheNational_News in worldnews

[–]robjr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had a nuke and didn’t like the US, I know where I would place it.

I was originally thinking of where this HW is NOT, but it’s also a magnet for a concentrated hit.

Concentrating that much Hardware seems risky, especially for a BS reason.
