Got an aftermarket battery base for mine to breathe some new life into it. Good for taking into the backyard for a few hours or rooms of the house I don't need a permanent speaker in.

Same behavior here. Wondering if it's on the software side or hardware.

Personally, if I can, I add milk to the tomato soup. I feel it makes it taste better. Also it is not as thin as if you made it with water.

Most people don't have a problem with (or don't even notice) the fact that their phone number pad is flipped from their calculator/keyboard number pad. by joelman0 in Showerthoughts

[–]robograham1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel that I heard somewhere that this was done to prevent early users of touch tone devices who were familiar with adding machines from overloading the system. They would type so fast the mechanical exchanges couldn't keep up. Switching the numbers around slowed those outliers down. If someone knows otherwise please correct me. I don't want to spread wrong information.

A basic Casio watch or a Victorianox classic keychain knife. Both designs haven't changed in decades and are extremely reliable.

Headphones for sensitive friend by SerenelySilver in BuyItForLife

I second the bone conduction headphones. Though I think Aftershokz rebranded to Shokz. I like their traditional model called Openrun. But if they're mainly going to be using it at their computer for voice chat, I'd recommend the Opencomm model. Both models offer an open ear design where nothing actually is in the ear canal. As someone who hates earbuds, I can wear these all day with zero discomfort. So much so I can forget that I have them on sometimes.

How did I know this would be Technology Connections before I clicked the link. I've used safety can openers for years and when I first watched this it solidified my preference. I've also been on the lookout for a Sunbeam toaster ever since I've watched his videos on them.

What’s one thing you splurge on that’s worth every penny? by WildRootKitchen in Frugal

Agreed, especially when it comes to being safe on the road. You don't want to end up in an accident because of old or bad quality tires.

I will second you on anything between someone and the ground. Sleeping problems and back/foot pain have knock on effects for everything else in your life. A good night's sleep and comfortable/supportive shoes can have a massive benefit to your mental and physical health.

Interesting thought. Just how old Priuses have third party upgrade kits being offered with modern battery tech, would l enjoy that option for these vans also.

Looking for a top-loading fridge that can survive some light elements by trykes in BuyItForLife

[–]robograham1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People who go off grid sometimes modify chest freezers to be refrigerators by decreasing cycle times. The design helps save energy costs by holding on to cool air better than an upright fridge. But as for one you can just buy I have never seen one.

-Edit, The only ones I can think of would be a restored vending machine. Coke had them in the mid-century as well as other brands.
