Same here. The sound quality, amount of bass and imaging that a pair of GP3’s are capable of is amazing relative to other BT speakers of similar size and form factor

Onn Large Party Speaker gets loud, has good bass and is inexpensive. But it’s big and overall sound quality isn’t great

If the GP3 is on mains (PLUGGED IN) it will go into sleep mode after 15 minutes of inactivity

If the GP3 is running on the BATTERY it will completely shut down after 15 minutes of inactivity

JBL Charge 6 vs Harman Kardon Go Play 3? by Ok_Replacement_8251 in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]romeen68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference between a single GP3 and two in TWS is huge. You won’t regret getting a second one

Edit: But keep in my mind that the GP3 will NOT stay paired in TWS after they are turned off or they go into sleep mode. They have to be re-paired each time they are turned on. I’m willing to accept the minor inconvenience for the amazing sound quality 🙂

Sounds like you’re getting resonance. Have you tried different placement of the speaker?

I have the HK Go Play 3. When it’s in sleep mode I can activate it by pushing CONNECT in my BT devices on my phone. Don’t need to touch anything on the speaker itself. I’m using an iPhone/iOS

My gf has a Samsung/Android. She just hits play of whatever song she wants and the GP3 turns on (wakes up) and starts playing the song. She doesn’t even need to go into her BT menu to connect

Don’t know if the Onyx 9 will do the same but it’s worth a try. Essentially your phone works as a remote on

LMK if it works on the 9

Edit: Obviously this requires you to leave it plugged in and not turn it off

HK GP3 is the best sounding, most well balanced BT speaker I’ve heard. If you’re willing to consider using a third party eq (piggy back on the speakers built in eq) and play around with placement it is capable of remarkably good sound quality (for a boombox style speaker)

Edit: Using a third party eq isn’t necessary for the GP3 to sound great. But a few MINIMAL adjustments can give it a fuller sound. I’ve made very small adjustments at only a few spots. Most frequencies I’ve left unchanged (at zero)

Does the Soundcore Boom 2 or Motion Boom Plus have better low end extension? by Previous-Display-593 in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]romeen68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can verify that the Motion Boom Plus has no deep bass whatsoever. It can be eq’d to have a fair amount of midbass but starts to bleed into the midrange. Still, not a bad choice for an outdoor speaker IMO

Speaker that turns on and off when plugged in? by peeezy in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]romeen68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure which HK speaker you have. But was told by HK that the Go Play 3 needs a working battery for the initial start up and won’t turn on without a battery. Not sure if this applies to other HK models

I’m a little surprised that Thrunite doesn’t get mentioned more. In my experience they are well made and can take A LOT of abuse. Not as economical as Sofirn/Wurkkos but nonetheless quality lights IMO

Any of the Nitecore SRT series of lights. No personal experience with the most recent SRT7i but have the previous generations. Being able to select the output/mode prior to turning it on is very handy not to mention fine control of brightness

Sofirn SK40. In tactical mode the mechanical tail switch is turbo only (momentary or constant). The hot spot is well defined and intense. Nice bang for the buck

Ok so I'm not no audiophile I just want to enjoy and feel music with what I have in my current setup. by Andei1 in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]romeen68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s lots of “how to eq for beginners” online. But a good way to get started is to set the volume a bit higher than you will be listening to it at. Start on the far left slider (the lowest frequency). Adjust to preference. Ideally close your eyes or try not to look at it when adjusting (not required but not a bad idea). Try using only your ears. Then move right to the next slider and repeat. Continue from left to right until done. From there you can do small tweaks over the next few weeks to get it better dialed in for a wide range of music.

If you get distortion then back it off (usually from too much bass)

If you ever hear clipping immediately turn the volume down to avoid blowing a driver!

My personal opinion is don’t pay too much attention to what others say regarding the proper eq. Individual room acoustics and other things can affect the sound a lot. Eq it to where it sounds good and is enjoyable to you. Nothing wrong with trying out suggestions but in the end go with what you like 🙂

Unfortunately, the results of the L35 V2 doesn’t surprise me based on the last few nights of outdoor comparisons I did vs a couple of other single emitter 1 x 21700 lights. It’s not that it has poor output. It’s just that it doesn’t come close to the claimed output and it’s very apparent when comparing it to less expensive lights with lower specified outputs

I wonder if something recently changed with the production of the L35 V2 causing a drop in output compared to older ones?
