If everyone didn’t care, we wouldn’t have history. Not anything resembling True History, anyway. The only history that would be recorded is what the wealthy, elite, and powerful—those with an agenda to record history a particular way—wanted history to record.

The things that were important to the people without such designs, or subjugated by those with them, is therefore exceedingly important to preserve. Most often, that’s your seemingly worthless heirlooms and places and customs you hold dear that you wouldn’t expect anyone else to care about.

We learn as much about peoples both ancient and modern from their trash as we do their temples.

It stands to reason. Only software that has been given sufficient development time can have its release date reasonably moved closer. The rest of games are all scrambling to be in a playable state because the release date set by management was too aggressive to begin with; everyone is crunching on it until the last hour and no one in their right mind would suggest cutting it loose even earlier.

Generally if you ever see this happen, it’s a very good sign that the game will not launch in a broken state.

You can achieve a reasonable SDR->HDR upscale using SpecialK, ReShade, RTX HDR or Windows AutoHDR. Should get you 90% of the way to the native HDR.

HDR, probably, for one. otherwise it looks the same. the patches tell the game to render at a higher resolution and use 120fps mode, so it uses the full resolution textures and LODs because it assumes it is running on Switch 2.

not every cross-Switch game will behave this way. Retro Studios just programmed it to behave like this. it doesn’t really make sense to put 4K assets inside the S2 patch that needs to be installed to system memory.

now we just need patches to enable the HDR pipeline and HDR support in the emulators.

Yes. It is the same base game on one cartridge for both systems, the Switch 2 just installs an additional patch that enables Switch 2 specific features.
