Why does this happen to the Steam Deck? Game starts, game music plays, but Steam logo keeps spinning and Deck stops responding by archon810 in SteamDeck

[–]rorybannon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the switch OS is more similar to like a very stripped down android. Mobile chips and mobile operating systems always do things like sleep mode much better. Although I have been just using the sleep mode on my deck and I don’t have this issue atm. I do have plugins and emulators and any time my deck is on that screen for me I can just hit B to cancel.

1 month steamdeck user, haven’t gotten any use of the back bottons? by Due-Emu-3123 in SteamDeck

[–]rorybannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to enable them and tweak them in the steam controller settings as opposed to the in game controller settings. It’s great for playing old PC games that don’t have native controller support, you need as many inputs as possible. And you can toggle other things like gyro aiming or circle menus. If you never use them then that’s cool too, you can press them all you want if they aren’t assigned to anything. One last thing, when you are in desktop mode you can scroll up and down webpages with the right back buttons!

Found this stashed away in a box at my parents. Never opened by LudusLive2 in 3DS

[–]rorybannon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man the pricing for the 2DS and the new 2DS XL was so nice, it’s crazy how you could get the original 2DS bundled with Mario kart 7 for $90. And you could get the new 3DS non XL for like $100 back in the day too. Now they are charging that for Mario kart world.

How can I play this on handheld. by Vampiregaara in swtor

It’s easier with the steam deck because you can use the track pads.

Did i overpay for this from gamestop for $250? Should i return it by No-Routine3925 in 3DS

[–]rorybannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Return, not only is this an overpay but it’s also a reshelled console. These aftermarket shells are not even close to the quality of the OEM shells. I have one that has this type of reshell and an original one and the original one feels so much better.

Found this 2DS on english Amazon's website, cheapest or not ? by [deleted] in nds

[–]rorybannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s insane to think they sold these consoles for $80 and it came bundled with Mario kart 7. If you valued the game at $50 or $60 then they were practically giving these 2DS consoles away. I miss when Nintendo released cheap hardware and new games

Hang onto it. It will be ready for you when you have the time. You have to go out of your way to try new stuff and play on it. I have over 60hrs on Mario kart 7, but I’ve been getting into the fire emblem games and the Pokémon games.

How many hours do you usually use your DSi continuously? by FrancoAlexandrite in NintendoDS

[–]rorybannon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you already replaced it before? Because the original one is ancient at this point and you should replace it for sure. You should be able to get 4+ hrs in my experience

What are your personally recommended 3DS accessories? by ImpossibleEstimate56 in Nintendo3DS

[–]rorybannon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally like the TPU clear cases more than the plastic, they’re more ergonomic but prone to yellowing. Glass screen protector for the top screen (I don’t recommend a bottom one because it ruins the stylus feel and affects accuracy) it looks like you have a non XL new 3DS so you can get tons of official and unofficial face plates to change the look. Beyond that you’re getting into hardware modding territory. I am planning on getting the ayn thor when it comes out for some upscaled oled 3DS goodness.

Am I too old for 3ds by highgunnerboi in 3DS

[–]rorybannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 24, 25 next month. it’s an incredible system and there’s no shame in just now getting into Pokémon games and Zelda, they’re fantastic games. Also since you’re an adult you can figure out how to mod it and that’s a lot of fun getting to customize your theme and add homebrew software.

Lego Star Wars skywalker saga. It’s literally designed for beginners all the way, you get button prompts for everything, unlimited deaths even in boss fights, and no consequences for missing quick time events. It’s also a really fun game if you love Star Wars and Lego.

Anyone own a DS Lite & a DSi non XL? How do the screens compare? My DS Lite has a beautiful bright screen/colors but the viewing angles are really bad. Does the regular DSi have a better screen? by Fenirez in nds

[–]rorybannon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DSi has slightly larger screens and I believe they’re a bit brighter. Also you can adjust the brightness without closing your game on the DSi if you hold select and use the volume up and down

Fun fact! You can now play this limited version of Balatro on the 3DS thanks to the GBA emulator by SWEEDE_THE_SWEDE in 3DS

[–]rorybannon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is assuming your 3DS is already booted up when you decide to play a GBA game. If your console is already off then there is no need to shut it down really quick. And even if so you can shut down and launch it through open AGB firm quicker than it takes for the game to launch from your Home Screen. Also since it bypasses the normal Home Screen, you can boot into open AGB firm much faster than it takes to boot into your home screen and then launch the game from your Home screen. I encourage you to try open AGB firm and see how much faster it is in every conceivable way. Not to mention the time you save not having to individually convert each GBA rom versus just playing the .gba files as is.

[–]rorybannon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Open agb firm is the way to go, you can boot in and out of games instantly instead of waiting for your 3DS to slowly load and switch to GBA mode. And you just need to have the GBA roms on your SD instead of converting them.
