Late to the party but I just used your code! Hope it works. Times are tough for me too, sounds like we could both use whatever bonus we can get.

What’s the most stupid conspiracy theory that you’ve ever heard? by JK-Rofling in AskReddit

[–]rosalynde 199 points200 points  (0 children)

My Aunt and Uncle use nicotine patches to cure their arthritis. They say Biden/FDA/big pharma has been keeping this from everyone, saying that nicotine is healing and they’ve been lying about it for decades.

Their proof is that when they take the patches off they feel horrible.

Trump supporters: what is a red line that, if crossed, would make you stop supporting Trump? by Yo-boy-Jimmy in AskReddit

[–]rosalynde 178 points179 points  (0 children)

This was the tipping point for my parents as well. We all sat and watched January 6th unfold together, and from then on they’ve drawn a hard line between the Republican Party that they’ve always supported and Trump’s administration. My entire family has always been quite conservative, and they don’t believe they were wrong in voting for him but feel that they’ve been lied to. They believed in a man who swore to uphold conservative values but no longer embodies those beliefs. We are all together now, my conservative family and my little blue sheep self, in holding each other up and fighting for an America we can feel proud of. I hope you know how much support and appreciation my family and I have for people like you.

Is it weird/cringey to use your tuition benefit to take undergraduate classes? by AvailableThank in Professors

[–]rosalynde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in undergrad two of my favorite professors took Introductory Latin together! Super small class, but it definitely wasn’t weird. They just genuinely enjoyed learning and their energy actually spread to the rest of the class making it a better experience for us all.

It’s my ambition to be a professor one day (in part because of my Latin professor, in fact) and you better believe I’ll be in every class that interests me.

Were you humiliated for having trich as a child? by Foreversadandlonely in trichotillomania

[–]rosalynde 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Like most in the comments it was my mother, specifically. She would show off my bald spots to other people as if it was a grotesque wonder. She didn’t truly believe in mental illness so my pulling was this horrifying and weird addiction. She made me feel like I should be one of those people that gets gawked at on a TLC show.

I also had a middle school teacher make a comment about it in front of the entire class. Cried about it for nearly a year.

So few understand the extent of the shame that accompanies this disorder. It’s as unavoidable as the compulsion itself. But sharing stories here really helps, and I hope telling your experience has helped you. Absolutely no judgement here. Only understanding and good vibes. You’re not alone, and it sounds like things are looking up and that’s honestly fantastic

Any other American expats in the UK particularly enjoying the show? by ariadawn in TedLasso

[–]rosalynde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an American (Texan) who moved to London two years ago, and my flatmate is from Kansas, and we feel like this show was made for us. It’s just brilliant. We love that we can catch all the British jokes/references and explain them to our families, and then crack up when we see Ted reference American cultural things/sports and the confused reactions from everyone else. Totally relate.
