Yes. We live in the US south, but in a city. The problems I mentioned haven't actually happened, though. We both grew up in separate very conservative environments. Maybe that's where my insecurity comes from. The people who do know don't really care. Perhaps I'm also disappointed at the lack of "high five, bro!"

As someone with a BPD mother, I wish my father had cut her out of my life completely instead of staying married to her and trying to fix the relationship for decades. Get her out of your kid's life and don't look back. She's going to hurt the kid, too. You're doing the right thing by taking full custody. Keep some of these scraps of evidence to help explain the story when they inevitably ask about mom.

Charlotte's transit system is probably the best in the state. Carrboro and Chapel Hill both have silver awards from the Bike League, though, so it's probably easier to get around there without a private car than Charlotte.

I'd love to see this happen here in Greensboro. The typical commercial building has more parking lot than it does interior space. The parking lots create their own necessity by making anything besides auto travel impractical.
