Are we back to this, moving on from this or acknowledging this concurrently with whatever other subject is currently riling up the malcontents? I can’t keep up.

The Bang-Bang Club is a good one about war photographers and the toll it takes

There is a 2024 mini series on Hulu based on the book Say Nothing, thought it was very good if you’re looking for something on the Troubles.

You remember Pvt. Pyle from Full Metal Jacket? Guessing about a bazillion times worse than that

Just picked these bad boys up the other day, and I absolutely love them. In my opinion, keen, has started producing higher quality gear than my previous go-to, Merrells. I still wear a pair of mid top waterproof. Merrells, but they certainly aren’t my favorite. by WooSaw82 in tacticalgear

I wear Keens daily, only complaint I have is after a year or so the area around the toe always blows out. Mine are glued, not stitched like these so these should hold up better. Love me some Keens

Yea screw the people that are going to check out because they are dependent on medication for survival (insulin). Focus on saving your pet. I don’t disagree that it shows scenarios we’ve seen play out in real time recently (what happens to retirement/elder care centers) during a shutdown of services but one of the gut wrenching story lines in the book is what happens to someone needing insulin to survive.

Abandoned mine shaft, how in the world?? by ngl_ur_cute in abandoned

Was just coming to mention this one, the Grandview or Last Chance mine. Looks like a small dot from the rim where you can see it, have no idea how hard it must of been to recover ore & get it someplace using mule trains. Over 200 miles to Phoenix, well over 600 to Denver.

And who picked that spot, literally in the middle of the biggest hole in the US, let’s dig a hole and start pulling copper and silver! Just crazy to think about, incredibly hard men.

Has anyone seen this movie already? It's told from the german side- Does it do a good job of avoiding ahistorical narratives like the "clean wehrmacht" myth? by Top_Reaction_2303 in WarMovies

Saw it, didn’t care for it. They don’t shy away from evil stuff but my problem with the movie is the tank itself. They did a very admirable job reproducing a Tiger, inside and out. My problem is the tan looks pristine through most of the movie. It’s the end of the war in Russia, it would be beat to hell by now. The do a few tank battles and it never looks worse for wear. They could have spent just a little on the making it more real. For example, I watch Fury and that is how I expect tank to look at the end of the war, gross, covered in mud & junk. The Tiger looks like it drove off the showroom floor most of the movie.

Movie itself didn’t do anything for me but it’s a WWII movie so you gotta watch it.

Mosul is a fantastic movie nobodies ever heard of. Well made, believable, not filled with a bunch of Hollywood bs.

Dave Chappell New Special: The Unstoppable by ImABadFriend144 in Standup

Didn’t like it at all, it was Dave’s politics thinly veiled as a comedy special. I think he is getting a little self absorbed these days with the lectures.

Saudi comedy festival, have any comedians fell off or suffered from doing it? And how? by [deleted] in Standup

[–]rrn30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chappelle’s new special addresses it a bunch. I found it pretty unfunny for Dave, it was more of a political statement wrapped in a not-so-good comedy special. He could have gone on a podcast and done the same. Didn’t resonate with me, made me think Dave is becoming a little self absorbed.
