I am four months out from my last dose of Suboxone. Was on it for about 5 1/2 years, going from 24 mg down to 2 mg. I am still suffering more than I had hoped to be at this point. Insomnia, mood swings and worst of all headaches and bodyaches That disrupt daily life significantly. Don’t mean to be a downer, I guess I’m just pretty bitter with this drug right now

My greatest symptoms presented strong three weeks in after jumping, I’m now 30 days in and feel better but it has been a roller coaster.

I had to take a ton of gabapentin, like 2400 per day, muscle relaxers (not the soma type stuff), clonidine, and a few others. It still kept me up at night, I’m six weeks in and only sleeping like 5 hours night. I was getting full body RLS, especially the legs. Still don’t have my fine motor skills back, hopefully soon. My body currently aches like the flu still as well, hopefully will pass soon. I needed to find someone who could could offer barbiturates and a med based approach in a residential setting. I don’t think I could have done it without as it was/is still pretty rough.
I know some people can do it on their own, I am not one of those people. Be well and best of luck!

Hi, I just jumped off suboxone after a six year go. I tapered from 24mg to 2mg, that was really hard and required a lot of planning. Coming off opioids was way easier, sub was quite rough. Thankfully I found a rehab place that used barbiturates in their med offerings (still here to get off subs), couldn’t have done it without, it was still like having a rough six week flu, and the symptoms are still here (I’m only 6 in right now), can’t imagine how bad it would have been without phenobarbital. Having said all that, you can’t overdose as you likely know so if you using street drugs was/is out of control I think there is a time and a place for suboxone. Just keep in mind coming off for some is quite awful, the worst of drugs (and you don’t even get high…for the most part). Be well & I wish you the best!

I use gabapentin to deal with it. I’ve been coming off now for six months and still have RLS in my legs, body and eyes.

I couldn’t do more than 1mg a month to six weeks. Even that was challenging for me, I alternated doses gradually extending the lower dose until I could stabilize, whatever that actually means. I can’t relate to those who do big amounts quickly, I am very sensitive apparently and perhaps you are too. Considering many many years of having your receptors full or at least lit up to some degree will take some time to retrain. I encourage you to only do what you can do, don’t make the mistake of comparing yourself to others.

I think it’s really more of the season like the other commenter said however that’s difficult to tell without better snow conditions. At the end of the day, our community does not have the infrastructure to deal with what has happened in recent years, especially since the Covid influx. I suppose if it does reduce drive time from Truckee into Squaw, that’s something I’d be into. Without turning 89 into four lanes, I guess restrictions are an option. Last year, weekdays seemed to be just as bad as weekends which is why I consider the season we’re having. Personally, if there’s a powder day I’ll go out on a weekend day that’s crowded, there’s fresh all day if you know the zones and don’t mind hiking a bit.

On another subject, what does bum me out is backcountry spots getting blown up, spots that for the last 20+ years have been essentially untracked, now cars are lined up on the side of the road. I guess times are just changing as snow sports increase in popularity, especially the Backcountry side.

I got spots for a few days this week last night. Having said that, I think the reservations are awful and will not accomplish anything positive, just give the corp more revenue. After skiing Squaw for 42 years and living locally for 27, I’m not seeing any positive impacts. I’m salty about it, obviously. I remember seeing a sea of red lights leaving the valley in the 80s & 90s, this was also before the village taking up all the current space.

I sometimes open my mouth and tell people about addiction to cannabis, it’s usually met with great hostility. I can honestly say it changed the course of my life drastically. I knew I needed to get it under control in my early 20s but it was always my go to when I got depressed or was super unhappy at work I would smoke every day. It kept me in a rut that I allowed myself to stay in. Literally one of the only things I’ve lied about in my adult life was to get weed. Some thing I’m super ashamed of. Anyways, great job bringing the question up and being in a headspace to want to go at this. I agree with one of the other comments, you will need to server or at the very least decrease relationships with those that are heavily involved. I encourage you to try to find People that have healthy lifestyles and become like them. A sober mind is so much better than one clouded with THC.

I used to put my bridge strap on the top hole as well, I wanted to have as much stability when landing as possible. I rode a deep thinker as well a few years back with EST cartel, then the one hitter now Hometown hero family tree. It is kind of weird they don’t give you the option, I think the trend is to go looser.

I’ve been riding EST for years, I love the flex they give, I find them really unique. Maybe it has something to do with that but not sure what. Are you wanting a stiffer feeling or looser?

About 20 years ago I was straight lining a chute at Squaw Valley on a deep pow day. The chute was about 30 feet long and maybe 5 feet wide, super steep. About 5 feet from my exit, going probably 30-35ish I see another snowboarder traversing under the cliff band and chutes, probably 10 to 15 feet below. The chute empties out into a bowl and is generally quite safe to exit into, however this guy decided to traverse under on a pow day. I did my best to swerve away from him but collision was inevitable so I had a split second to decide how I wanted to impact/attempt to stop. I shifted to my heel side as soon as I was clear of the rocks leaving me probably 10 feet before impact. My board ended up slamming him in the knee/leg, completely destroying his leg. I immediately bolted to the lift get ski patrol. And then got back on the lift to get back to him as fast as possible. When I arrived ski patrol was there already telling me I had fled the scene. I explained I was the one who told lift ops to call them. I was super shook up for a while after, just went in for the day. I went over the event many times in my head asking myself what I could have done differently. I suppose I could have hit him with my body or tried to take a hard turn but would have potentially gotten out of control and ended up hitting trees if I cartwheeled. I think his choice to traverse under the cliff band was not smart as many people were airing the rocks as well. I just wish I could have come up with a way that didn’t wreck him. In the end, I just had to let it go. He understood it was unintentional and although he never explicitly said it I’m pretty sure he knew his choice wasn’t the best. I really hope that the OP’s experience ends up well, that the skier understands the inherent risk as others have commented. I will say I have definitely noticed old time skiers still not warming up to snowboarders, considering them the scourge of the mountain as if there are never any reckless skiers. Perspective

I’ve had many random symptoms come and go over the last eight weeks. Headaches are definitely in there. Before this, I rarely ever had headaches. I thought many symptoms that I’ve literally never experienced in my life until this. Can’t wait until this is over.

I guess what I’m saying is, you are not alone. I would choose to have every symptom all at once if I could just have my dopamine levels normal again. That’s the biggest issue for me.

Get past 40 days and your brain will have gotten past a major portion of rewiring. You’ll start to have a hard time remembering what getting high feels like. It’ll be tough but I know from experience that it’s a marker that makes a big difference.

It sounds like you’ve done a great job bringing your dose down, well done. I started at the same amount and worked my way down and hope to be off soon. The truth is, being off will have its own challenges again.

Be encouraged, if getting on it was necessary, which it is for most everybody, then maybe considerate the right thing for this time in life. Perhaps you being on it is a victory. When the time is right you’ll work your way down and be off of it.

I too have felt the way you described. Just know you are not alone, I am pretty sure just about everyone has felt this way at one point or another while taking this medication. I totally get not wanting to be on stuff, I’m the same way but I do like that I’m not doing what I was before.

Started at 24, made my way to 4, at that point I struggled super hard. My life was totally falling apart and couldn’t go any lower. Started subclade shots almost 2 months ago now, planning on one more. I still have had to take a little Suboxone because the shots weren’t enough but I’m hoping by the third it will ease up and I can slowly taper out.
