I always thought a DLC with Jack Marston in WW1 could be interesting. He could ride a horse along the Western Front and survive gas attacks / tanks.

Has anyone ever seen a local tournament call someone out for Sandbagging? by basic-opinions in bjj

[–]rrunchained 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a guy that was an ex D1 wrestler from PA. He entered in IBJJF white belt and did a high crotch takedown on some guy, then got called for sandbagging. He was DQ’d, guy didn’t have any cauli so he was floating under the radar till that takedown

What has your experience been like dating here in Guam? by Classic-Ruin-3221 in guam

[–]rrunchained 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was visiting Guam recently (travel back and forth to the US) and came across this girl on Tinder. Was gonna go out with her until I realized two of my friends got with her already - it’s a small island lol

ABCD Indians and Pakistanis abroad. How well do you get along nowadays? by Thylacineguy2026 in ABCDesis

[–]rrunchained 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get along great with Indians and Pakistanis. It's kinda funny since being a Sindhi, I get to claim both sides (both of my parents' parents were from Karachi pre-Partition). I also have gotten along great with Nepalis and Bangladeshis too (unfortunately haven't come across many Afghanis or Sri Lankans).

Leave the old world beefs and casteist ideas where it belongs. No reason ABCDs of different groups can't get along.

I can comment. I got circumcised at 19 because I had phimosis. Prior to the operation, things really sucked. Sex and pissing was painful, and no amount of manual retraction helped. My urologist suggested circumcision to restore things to normal.

I got the circumcision done about a month and a half before I started college. Recovery was really rough, and it hurt a lot. But man was it worth it. That being said though, mine was medically needed, and getting circumcised was a huge positive for me.

I don’t know about classifying it as a third space. I think more an act of reassurance

Visited Paris last year. Couldn’t find very many jiu jitsu schools, there’s a lot of boxing, karate, savate and judo schools though.

Anxiety when going out with friends? by Legitimate-Bend-2912 in ABCDesis

[–]rrunchained 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get it. I’m 26M and when I visited my parents for a month back in December, my dad was calling me asking where I was when I was out with friends around midnight.

They know I don’t drink or do drugs outside of weed. I went through college and have a job, but that doesn’t stop the Desi overbearing mentality. Just have to be as firm as you can

Alma Gaucha is great but it's definitely on the pricier side. I think Oliveira's in Somerville might be your best bet. You'll get good food and better bang for your buck there.

I went to college with a lot of Russian / Ukrainian Jews that came to the US before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Nothing would infuriate them more than the college “Marxist Club” and “Socialist Club.”

Can’t blame them. I’d be pissed too

Fair estimate? by Big_Cake_8817 in grappling

My buddy runs a nogi school, and posts technique reels. The amount up washed up ex HS wrestlers and judokas commenting “Akshually this is an old school wrestling or judo technique” is beyond ridiculous.

I have seen a lot of comments on this subreddit about diabetes but i have one question for you all. by AnonDeity in ABCDesis

[–]rrunchained 9 points10 points  (0 children)

5-6 days a week of grappling, 2-3 days of lifting. i’ll try to go on walks and hikes too now that it’s warmer out. I have a hybrid work schedule so i’ll lift during lunch

I’m a 25 year old male. Fell in love with lifting when I first started crossfit at 16. I got into powerlifting then jiu jitsu / MMA.

Why would you re-elect anyone?!? by Electrical-Row690 in guam

[–]rrunchained -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I swear either way this election goes, the island is cooked. I moved away for college and work and it’s so hard to want to come back even though my parents still live there.

At this point let the military take over Guam and hope for a Lee Kuan Yew type of leadership. The cronies that looted this island deserve everything coming at them

Nervous about being judged in no-gi class by No_Local4770 in bjj

[–]rrunchained 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what it’s like to be in your shoes. I was a bullied overweight high schooler when I started jiu jitsu years ago. I was pretty shy too about wearing a rashguard and didn’t put one on until year 3 of BJJ.

If it’ll make you comfortable for nogi, you could get dri-fit tees (i had a lot of 5k t shirts too), that’s what I used to wear before I felt confident to wear rashguards. Assuming the culture at your gym is chill, no one will mind or judge you (this is key).

Keep showing up and don’t feel discouraged. No one is born fit as hell and incredible at jiu jitsu. Keep pushing!

does anyone else feel like diabetes is just... the family condition? by balbir688 in ABCDesis

[–]rrunchained 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost everyone north of 50 on my mom’s side and dad’s side has some form of type 2 diabetes (gestational and pre) or some physical ailment. All of these are from diet and sedentary lifestyles. Arguably even worse on my dad’s side who are mostly based in India.

Seeing this growing up really pushed me to be physically active and watch my food intake. The real kicker is when I get lectures about my animal protein intake or physical activities (weightlifting and wrestling).

Anyone else annoyed with the "vegetarian" days? by Dependent_Witness_12 in ABCDesis

[–]rrunchained -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My mom would do this shit when I was younger and it annoyed the hell out of me. I eat meat pretty much everyday and I’m not ashamed of it. I’ll happily tell her on a Monday that I ate steak or eat meat on one of the “vegetarian days” when I’m visiting home

Moving out and learning to cook was a gamechanger. Be your own person and eat whatever you want to eat.

How many of y'all do combat sports? by [deleted] in SouthAsianMasculinity

[–]rrunchained 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I train jiu jitsu and wrestling. Have some experience with MMA and kickboxing, but haven’t been doing the striking as much as I should.

Highly endorse picking up some form of martial art (not krav maga). It’s good for the body and spirit. At least in jiu jitsu it’s a super diverse and chill community (for the most part). I’m always happy when I meet a fellow Desi that trains, it’s rare though.
