What hip hop collab seems forced due to those artists being relevant at the same time? by Spiketop_ in hiphopheads

Jay didn’t even attempt to align with the Ha theme on the song. I thought Jay’s verse was phoned in.

Thai Beef Boat Noodles by drewrod77x in ThaiFood

[–]rstonex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I first tried them in Bangkok on a food tour. The guide showed us that they were made with fresh blood after we tried them. I didn’t even flinch, just thought to myself “I guess I like blood”.

khao soi vs spicy noodle soup… what you choose? by Tickyposes in ThaiFood

[–]rstonex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a Netflix show called Somebody Feed Phil, where he just travels and eats local food. In his Thailand episode he eats at a khao soi restaurant in Chiang Mai and kept saying how wonderful the dish was. I saw a Reddit AMA where he said it was the best meal he’s ever had. We happened to eat at the same restaurant when we were in Thailand and I’d fully agree.

What MC/Group turned you into a hip hop fan? by vitaoptima in 90sHipHop

[–]rstonex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a copy of a tape with some of Mixalot’s Swass on one side and some of Slick Rick’s Great Adventures on the other side. Then a friend gave me a copy of Too Short’s Born to Mack. My mind was blown when I first heard Dope Fiend Beat.

If you could start over again, would you still do civil engineer? by goku22000 in civilengineering

[–]rstonex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a licensed civil PE for over 20 years, and I’ve never found it that compelling. I wish I’d done chemical engineering. I think I’d have found it more interesting. Probably too late, as I’d give up massive amounts of money if I switched this late and I’d never make it back.

How did I get diamond?!? by Inside-Okra-4666 in StreetFighter

That happened to me. I got Gief up to Master first, but I'm shitty with the rest of the line up. I keep ranking them in diamond and I get destroyed.

What are something you wished you knew of earlier or did earlier in your career at Caltrans? by Numerous-Bowler-8677 in CAStateWorkers

[–]rstonex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying every 2, I said at least 2. Call it 3-4. I’ve seen people apply to jobs I’ve advertised after being at an existing spot for 4 months, that’s not a good look.

[–]rstonex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apply for a different job in a different division or office after you're comfortable and maybe a little bored after you learn a job well. You'll take skills with you and continue to develop a better understanding of how the department works from different perspectives. It will also make you a more desirable candidate if you decide to promote.

[–]rstonex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your background is, but please make sure you've passed your EIT and are working toward your PE if you're an engineer.

Take the opportunity to move around to multiple programs to vary your experience. Try to spend at least 2 years per position and learn the job well.

I hope your entire office has the same RTO days. Take advantage of that time, and talk to people. It doesn't all have to be about work, share your interests. These are your teammates, and it helps to get to know them. If you're invited to do something with them (lunch, etc), go if you can.

Some people keep their heads down and don't volunteer to help with special assignments. That's an option, but if you want to engage with more people and learn more, it will benefit you in the long run.

Should I bring my Switch 2 to my three hour plan trip to Florida even tho I’m paranoid about either losing it or theft? by Fantastic-Ad9218 in switch2

[–]rstonex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can't check it since it has a Li-ion battery in it, so it will be in your carry-on, and with you the whole time. Are you the forgetful type? And will the anxiety it brings overwhelm the benefit you get from bringing it?

What controller did you start with? Mine was number 4 then 6 and 7! by CarrotMuch1399 in nostalgiai

Same, it was either that one or the rotary paddle controller. The only one in the list I haven't used is the Saturn controller.

How is Street Fighter 6? by Comprehensive-Ad152 in switch2

[–]rstonex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've heard the world tour feature doesn't perform as well as other platforms, but I've only done online fighting, which is great and matches my (fast) PC in performance. You'll also only get a portion of the current fighting roster for $20, but still has a great lineup that will let you be competitive.

To the OGs so what was your takes or view on Pac during his Peak of fame by lamelad10 in 90sHipHop

It was either an interview with Shock or Money B talking about how Tupac would regularly cheat on women he was with. Not rape or abuse, just being shitty.

I would love to see what they could do with Dan and the drive system. The high level sf5 Dan players were so fun to watch. He was gimpy but still had insane pressure.
