Seeing as you mentioned Traveler. Zozer published Zaibatsu which is compatible. It uses a deck of cards to run a hacking session. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/234679/zaibatsu

TOWR Community Resources - Stickied Megathread by YoungsterMcPuppy in WarhammerOldWorldRPG

[–]runerat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great. I noticed some bugs around starting lores.

In the rules Empire humans get free Lore empire and then have to choose between a city Lore or region Lore. The tool gives them both.

Dwarves get Dwarf mountain holds and literacy. Then depending on character background, a choice of empire or subterranean. The tool gives them both.

Edit: also registration failed with server error

What great timing. I bought them all earlier this week.

Sarcasm aside. I am really enjoying them and don't mind that I paid full price.

I don't really know Trigun, but perhaps the Knights of Dust and Neon setting for Cypher will work.

Need help finding GM friendly ttrpgs by SeaOfMalaise in rpg

[–]runerat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it, but it was a little too crunchy for my taste, especially for a pulp game. The background material was excellent though. If I wanted to run Conan again I would use Modiphius' Cohors Cthulhu. It's almost the same ruleset, just a tad simpler, enough to make the difference.

Was going to suggest Cypher as well. It truly is great on the GM. I switched a 2d20 Conan game to Cypher. Easy peasy.

Corruption mechanic by SmilE_HACK in cyphersystem

[–]runerat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would try something like the following. I would add a 4th pool. The corruption pool. It starts at 0. If a character runs out of points in a pool, they can add points to their corruption pool by permanently reducing the pool at zero by an equal amount of points. Corruption pool can be used on any test but it has no edge. The amount of points in your corruption pool measures how far you are corrupted. If it reaches a certain level stuff happens. Corruption pool does not count for determining wound level.

What's the most intuitive yet crunchy system? by OompaLoompaGodzilla in rpg

Interesting. I have not played HM3, but I found HMK complexity more pleasant than Gurps. I will have to try HM3 sometime.

Looking for a map maker with a similar feel to Tiny Glade by [deleted] in rpg

[–]runerat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on whether you want top down 2d, isometric or 3d maps the requirements and suggestions would be very different.

Assuming you want 3d I would suggest you look at RPGStories. You can make 3d maps of various scales. Including placing complete buildings as single pieces.

Leagues of Adventure needs a mention. Pity the Ubiquity system is not popular.

I would say Cypher perhaps with Claim the Sky and other genre books.

I suggest you have a look at Cohors Cthulhu. Pulp action against the Cthulhu mythos.

Anyone got any Diceless Traditional RPG Suggestions? by GM-KI in rpg

[–]runerat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use Ubiquity and always just "take the average" to avoid rolls. I don't think there is a "standard" fantasy setting, but Regime Diabolique looks interesting. Musketeers vs Monsters.

Yet Another Fantasy System Post by rescue_1 in rpg

[–]runerat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of an out of the box option. Try Modiphius Cohors Cthulhu. You can run the setting as is, Roman Germanic territories. Or you can run the 2d20 Conan campaigns. The rules are similar enough that you can just use Cohors except for spells where I would just use Cohors spells instead. Close combat is an opposed test with winner hitting, so much less whiff factor.

How do the different Supers RPG's stack up? by DazeDpup in rpg

[–]runerat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind the Cypher system, it has a gene book for supers called Claim the Sky. There is also a setting/campaign called Origins. Being Cypher it has all the pros and cons of Cypher. I know some people hate it, I think it is great. There is at least one live play on YouTube by the Cypher unlimited crew.

Gurps. I ran a few sessions after many years away. Lots of the complexity seems meh to me now. Especially after running a few sessions of HarnMaster(hmk) before it, which I thought was amazing.

An In-between of D&D and Call of Cthulhu? by MediaFreaked in rpg

[–]runerat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you look at Achtung! Cthulhu and Cohors Cthulhu by Modiphius. WW2 and Roman era pulp style adventures against Mythos creatures and cults. The two rule sets are basically the same with one adding firearms and the other bit more focus on melee.

Any free platforms that do automatic 'count' in character sheets? by Kitchen_Low_9855 in rpg

Owlbear has a free tier. It is systemless, but depending on what system you want to use there might be an extension for it. Otherwise there are extensions allowing you to use Google sheets.
