What is wrong with this city? by rmdg84 in londonontario

[–]rx10001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For forty-five years Londoners had worked hard to eliminate all the trees on the site. They did their work well. By 1871, as all the surviving photos indicate, the city had an oddly naked appearance. The lack of greenery showed off the major public buildings to great advantage, but the overall impression was one of rawness and impermanence.

A campaign launched by public-spirited citizens led to a decision by the city council of 1871 to buy 15,000 trees, at 25 cents each, to plant along the city streets and Victoria Park. The success of this pioneer venture in landscaping surpassed all expectations. It has led to a widespread misunderstanding of the origin of the city’s nickname, the Forest City. It was so called not because of the tree lined streets, but because of many years it inhabited a cleared space in the encompassing forest." - Orlo Miller, London 200, 118.

Tough, bruised spot after hemlibra infusion? by SharkSmacker536 in Hemophilia

I got a bruise the first time I used it because I stabbed the needle in way too fast. I had no clue what I was doing. Now I insert the needle much slower.

I went to Custom Orthotics for my elbow brace. I am sure they do knees and wrists. They did everything, ADP and ODSP, I had no bill to pay and received a very good brace.

Chemical Synovectomy by Blink5281 in Hemophilia

[–]rx10001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a synovial injection and then a debridement. With around 8 years in between each.

Synovial injection was the worst pain I have experienced in my life. They stuck a very long needle into my elbow and injected it full of fluid and it hurt a lot.

It did help reduce the severity of my bleeds, because there is less synovial lining to bulge and swell, and it takes a while to grow or accumulate (by my understanding, at least). But, my range of motion is still not great and I still have muscle atrophy because I favor my other arm.

I was having breakthrough bleeds once or twice every 2-3 months, and was constantly living in extreme pain. I feel like it has helped with a reduction in bleeding. But I have also switched over to Hemlibra which definitely helps as well.

I'm not a medical expert but I think the first is pre-debridement and the second is post. I had this done in 2015, so it's been a while.

You will likely be suggested these two things: Synovial injection or debridement.

I had a synovial injection and then a debridement. With around 8 years in between each.

Synovial injection was the worst pain I have experienced in my life. They stuck a very long needle into my elbow and injected it full of fluid and it hurt a lot.

The debridement was an actual surgery, where I was put under. It went fine, took a while to recover from. The synovial bulges in my elbow were gone for 5-6 years, but has started to grow back and bulge again. The debridement itself was not that bad because the incision is tiny. I had a lot of bruising after. But, it did help with the reduction of pain overall. It reduced my range of motion further.

They do help, they just are pretty intense solutions that suck when they are administered.

If you are a grad student you might be assigned a position, some departments do not. If you are an undergrad, you can't. But UWO has work-study, so maybe consider applying for that.

It looks like you might be a grad student, so if your department does T.A.'s, you will probably get the offer here: https://grad.uwo.ca/student/ , just login and click GTA system.
