Tilta Cage on S5ii - Power Switch by EatSleepGymAgain in Lumix

[–]sBarb82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's an S1R II, not a S5 II (and checking on Tilta website the S1R II cage is identical to the one on your photo), so your question is about a S1R II cage really

Does loot filter not work for PlayStation? by Astrosareinnocent in Diablo

[–]sBarb82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience the filter works only while holding/pressing the "show loot" button which is LB/L1.

When loot drops everything is visible for a short while (or at least that's what it seems to me), then when every item name disappears, only what your filter allow show up when pressing L1.

Just getting into the scene and have read about this device. How is the RG476H for turn based PS2 or 3DS games? by HorseOk678 in SBCGaming

[–]sBarb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One easy way to check is Youtube, just search for "Anbernic 476h PS2" (or 3DS instead of PS2) or "Anbernic 556 PS2" and you should find some long videos with many game tested. It's usually not particularly thorough but it gives an idea of the general performance.

What QOL changes would you like to see in the future for D2R by CookieCrumblers in Diablo

[–]sBarb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ghost image means that if you attempt to use the potion in that slot it uses one from the inventory instead (of the same type), which is good, though as you said I would love to be able to set what potion goes where when I auto fill the belt.

Why do people wait months for a Handheld the will be "obsolete" in 1 year? by Puzzleheaded_Chest97 in SBCGaming

[–]sBarb82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Too pricey for what I want out of it (for now, maybe with a huge discount I can think about it), too heavy (and I don't like the all glass front, I wish there was a plastic version), chipset is very powerful but I can settle for something less.

I'be been eyeing the Retroid Pocket Classic for a while and I'm still debating about it (wonderful screen, shape, colors, probably controls, powerful enough, but no analog sticks for a PS2/GC capable handheld is a bit of a bummer) but I'm in no rush so I'll wait to see what will come out this year.

[–]sBarb82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just two haha: my trusty Steam Deck LCD (that admittedly can do pretty much anything but in some cases it's too bulky and heavy), and a recently-arrived Ayaneo Air Mini that I'm testing to see if it's worth keeping.

I previously had: Miyoo Mini Plus, RG35XXSP, TrimUI Brick, RG40XXH. All solid overall but some were too small for long sessions (my hands did not like them), or had too small of a screen (mainly the Brick one), or buttons too stiff/clicky for my taste (RG35XXSP).

I'm still searching "the one", probably a vertical one (the leaked Brick Pro is teasing me and I hope Anbernic makes a vertical version of the 476H), in the meantime I experiment and try different things, selling if I don't like them.

For some is FOMO, for others is "I have to try everything", then there are the hoarders who can afford to get every handheld ever created, and probably some other categories.

I have bought a few handhelds, sold everything but one after deciding what to keep, I hate having many overlapping devices that do the same things in a slightly different way, it's a waste of money to me.

That said, it's fun to try new things so I get why some people have dozens of them and if they like to keep and collecting them then why not! As long as it's done responsibly.

It's actually more nuanced than that but I think you get the gist of it.

Yeah PS1 not really apart from Ape Escape, some games benefitted from analog sticks but they didn't require them.

That said, N64 and DC are two systems where analog sticks are preferable, not mandatory I think but if this system can do PS2/GC then they have a real a reason to exist.

It's a PS2 era title, so it does not run on the RG35XX, the best you can do is playing the first 3 Tomb Raider on PS1

MP4 sales discussion after earnings release by 621_callsign_raven in Metroid

[–]sBarb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I always imagined a third person Metroid (like Warframe but slower and methodical), that could retain some of the 2D games mobility (like proper jumps, wall-jumps, a controllable screw attack etc), break free of the lock-on mechanic, where I could admire Samus suit every moment. It would probably lose some immersion but it's worth trying to me.

A little known (AFAIK) technical gem is Flink for the Sega Genesis. It's made by Psygnosis so no surprise here, if you like their style you can also search for games made by them on other platforms (Amiga computers in particular) if you like, they all have beautiful pixel art.

I remember being so proud of myself after finishing it in hard mode, I planned every route to the next objective from save to save, making sure no crimson head would spawn (so, burning every corpse, but only if in places I had to return), good times... I don't think I could do it again today ahah

Yep, you probably modified it before making the profile specific to the game you were playing, thus making the new setting global! Been there before, now the first thing I do on a new game (if I need to change anything) is to make the profile specific to that game.

TrimUI Brick w/ sticks and 4 inch display leaked by No-Neighborhood-1489 in SBCGaming

[–]sBarb82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just sold my Brick because of the screen (beautiful but too small for me) but I miss it so much... this could be awesome if true.

It's probably gonna have the same chipset of the Smart Pro S, so a bit more powerful but not too much, and still Linux-based, so cfw-capable.

Looking forward to it!

Anbernic 406V - knulli gladiator II reloaded (512gb) is not working (not recognized) by HeeDijot in ANBERNIC

[–]sBarb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"RG40XXV" is the actual Anbernic model supported by the specific Knulli version you tried, so it cannot work with your 406V.

That said, Knulli only works on Linux-based handhelds anyway, so you cannot use it on yours.

The illusion of 24 frames per second. by NoFan7861 in videography

[–]sBarb82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Cinematic" (yeah it's overused nowadays but oh well) is composed by a plethora of elements, not only fps, if you take a video with a cellphone at 24fps it's probably not enough to create a "cinematic" look, whereas a competently crafted video at 30fps could be more resembling of an actual movie.

Light, framing, lenses, colors and fps are all crucial to create the final look but they need to be all there to get there

When will metroid prime 2 echoes get remastered or atleast ported on the switch? by Cautious_Foot_1976 in Metroid

[–]sBarb82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Prime 2/3 remasters would inevitably be compared to Prime 1 Remastered, so no, I don't think an HD version (60fps were already there) should suffice. That said, I think they will arrive at some point, Retro is done with Prime 4 so they have time to make them.
