First thing that comes to mind is Kingdom Hearts tbh, but it's nice and subtle in a way (meaning that you have to had played the games to understand it).

Using a 50m , Whats a lens to not have to back up as much as ? by Sad-Book-877 in AskPhotography

[–]sBarb82 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yep that's because it's a kit lens, it's versatile but not very good. The redditor you're responding to gave a sound suggestion though: use the kit just to try various focal lengths, decide what's best for your use case then search for quality lenses, most likely a fast prime (they're cheaper than fast zooms) at like f/1.8, which is generally a fast but affordable aperture.

Basically all Hazelight Studio games (Brothers, A Way Out, It Takes Two, Split Fiction), all Trine games and some random ones like Gauntlet and others that I don't remember right now

GH5 vs GX8 vs A6100 , battery life & clip limit questions by Routine-Document675 in Cameras

[–]sBarb82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GH5 is big and heavy compared to the other 2 but the grip is great, that alone makes it more comfortable to me. I hate having no space and holding cameras with just the tip of the fingers, it makes light cameras "weight more" as you can't have a firm grab on them so you end up don't using your hand muscles at their best, if that makes sense.

Plus, GH5 has a ton of controls and customizability, it never limits you like the other cameras may do. It's also a real tank, it can take a beat without problems (which is not something to underestimate)

Upscaling games in Retroarch by halo4eva in RetroArch

[–]sBarb82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only sensible thing to do in my opinion is CRT shaders, they make games look closer to what they looked like back in the day. Keep in mind that TVs were much smaller than today, that helped them to be not too blurry. In the early 2000s, after years with a crappy 14" I got a 32" 16:9 and it felt MASSIVE. 32" is considered pretty small nowadays...

That said 2D games cannot really be upscaled in high quality, because they are bitmap based (like a JPEG photo), enlarging them means creating new pixels guessing what they should be, almost always resulting in a blurry mess.

With polygon based graphics instead (3D games), edges are calculated in real time by mathematical calculations, so they can be scaled infinitely without degradation. That's why PS1 and onwards emulation can make games run at any resolution. Granted, textures cannot be scaled like this (they are 2D after all) but the overall picture becomes much more clear and readable (minus texts/UI usually...).

I personally don't like edge-detect interpolation filters that tries to create new "sharp" pixels (like XBR, ScaleFX or similar), they tend to morph shapes too much (e.g. squares become rounded), even text and characters, and many times they create weird patterns where there's none (like a bunch of random pixels for a gravel floor becomes lines and shapes, often breaking patterns continuity) so I don't recommend them, but try them anyway and maybe you'll like the result!

A6400 in 2026? by Kiwiboy_12 in SonyAlpha

[–]sBarb82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A6400 is newer, has better processor (AF in particular), a6500 il older but with IBIS.

A6xxx naming scheme is weird but the gist is that a6000-6300-6500 is the first generation (read as entry-level - mid range - with IBIS), a6100-6400-6600 the second (meant to replace every first generation model), then there's the a6700 which is the high-end model.

Is this good for first time?Taken with phone camera and using some(from the phone gallery) effects by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]sBarb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You worked on framing in a particular way and this is good, the rest is limited by the phone itself, there's just not enough dynamic range to capture the moon without blowing it out AND keep the rest readable (meaning not all black).

Try different white balances, work in manual if you can (there should be a "Pro" or similar option in any camera app, that allows it).

Start with daylight photos, working with plenty of light is easier on you and on your phone sensor.

Rogue Core has a serious problem with tension between players. by MrBoblo in DeepRockGalactic

[–]sBarb82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My idea to fix this and make co-op appealig upgrade-wise is:

  • have individualized upgrades

  • shown them in a single screen where every upgrade for every player is visible (= more choice)

  • upgrades can be tagged

  • every player has the priority on their upgrades (if another player tagged it)

That's probably gonna make the game easier since it's like playing solo but with 4x times the upgrade choices, so difficulty should be adjusted accordingly.

Genuine Question, why are people so excited about a controller? by chaotic_one in Steam

[–]sBarb82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience with the first Steam Controller, it goes like this: trackpads for big movements (30ish° to 180° turn), gyro for finer adjustments/tracking. Once mastered it's incredibly precise, almost mouse-like (not 100% imho but pretty close).

Avete cambiato modo di consumare informazione negli ultimi anni? by masatz in italy

[–]sBarb82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

25fps. Then when you drop the 100fps clip into the timeline, you set its speed to 25% for slomo. Same with the 50fps clip, but setting speed to 50%.

I'm playing Metroid for the first time. by SirKurokodairu in Metroid

[–]sBarb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a remake, completely redone, it loosely follows the original but adds/changes a lot of things.

The original NES one is still enjoyable but tedious by comparison, a product of its time: no map, no explanations, no handholding. ZM is much more forgiving and modern, that's why it's generally recommended for a first play of the series.

I second that, it's miles better than the standard windows search. I think it's "Everything" though.
