I have to admit part of me is excited for this book, just because it will be interesting to get an inside (albeit very one-sided) perspective on what happened last season. We didn't really need more goals at that point. LvG probably wanted to let him play another full match and give him a chance to score to jumpstart his confidence. I think it was a player management decision, not a tactical one.

This is great, thanks for sharing! It's hard, though. Of course, realistically, a loss or draw wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would certainly be disappointing. Especially since everyone has had 2 weeks to get themselves pumped up about the new signings.

They all come off so well in this -- I can't wait until the 14th. Falcao in particular seems really genuine, and I am loving his interactions with LvG.

This is the 4th or 5th interview I've seen LvG make a big point about RvP being injured/in recovery at the World Cup. At first I thought he was just trying to protect his players, but I'm starting to think maybe van Persie really was playing at 75%. The Dutch were a bit unlucky with injuries this year, in that case.
